The only thing that matters if who's on top at the end. In a two month season, coaches will have to experiment and give the players on the roster a chance to prove themselves. No one wins the state title based on the second half of the third game. Coaches need to give the players a chance to excel, or fail. I suspect when you have a roster of 20 talented players that even when you know the best 11 players that you truly never know who the 11 that play best together.

Barrington has been playing that way because they are frustrated that they are consistently outmatched on skill level against every team they play (with the exception of Bayview) so they do what they can to get some advantage. Smithfield does have a very skilled team so I'm surprised to see them play that way. Are they that insecure about winning on skill? Shame on the refs for not calling it more often.
Smithfield supporters won't agree or admit it, but everyone else should catch a Smithfield game and see what I mean.

The team doesn't have to throw the elbow or be physical, but certainly needs to understand that is part of the game and know how to deal with it. Have your daughter take up dance if you can't except that.

You don't need a qualified coach to teach that.

I agree. It shouldn't be done so often that it literally becomes a style of play. Thanks for making my point.

Cumberland gets it done, 2-1. Both goals for JR of whom some idiot last year claimed she wasn't an elite player because basketball was her first sport.

Cumberland 2-1 over Smithfield. Both teams played great. Very equal which made for an interesting game. JR epitomizes the word "elite", no doubt.

NK is looking lit this year. I will be thoroughly perplexed if they don't walk away with the title.
