The basis of the article is true, it's unlikely that private schools will be moving out of RIIL in your or your grandchildren's lifetime. It's Rhode Island, too small of a state for a separate league and too political of an issue for anyone to take on.

Rather than a Coventry coach writing that his team's can't beat the privates, it seems to me that it should be a Lasalle or Hendricken coach writing an opinion piece complaining about the fact that their teams are stuck playing in a crappy league with terrible competition when they could be playing other private schools with better teams.

Those two coaches love the fact that they can beat up on the public schools. They would not have it any other way.

No one from Lasalle or Hendricken would have the balls to write a piece like that

Would you sign your kid up for Bayside if Bayside played in Superliga against town teams?

Exactly... why send your player to Lsa or Hendricken if your not playing the best.
In Mass the Catholic schools do not do any better than towns. The reason is the best players play in the Independent private school leagues.

Bayside boys is a whole new topic. Last great bayside team was jc team with all the scholarships players. Those days are gone, barely any scholarship players on the younger teams.Maybe they should join superliga?

Seriously people. Do you think these kids go to school at LSA or Hendricken for the sport only? How about the parents decide to pay for education instead of using the public school route for free (besides town taxes). It's their decision so let it be. Club soccer or club sports is where you decide what is best fit for your kid, not high school sports.

Don't kid yourself. There are many kids at Lasalle and He stricken because of the sports.

Great article. Public school athletics versus private school athletics issues are in every state.
