There is no way the Gatorade committe can do that kind of research on 30 or 40 players. Just two from RI got the full search.
I have to think you are being naive. Most hs coaches couldn't care less - especially in the public schools. When the last game is played, season's over for the coach.

I just think "probably" every coach nominated a player. Maybe not. Sad if they didn't.

As sad as it may be, there were over 50 RI nominees, so someone must have nominated them

Like in all hs sports there are coaches that only coach or involved with the sport only during the season. In girls soccer there are 5 or 6 coaches that are involved year round for hs soccer. EWG and Rogers coaches are very active year round with promoting players (all players) and the game. You would be amazed at the amount of time they put in during the off season. I believe my daughter two years ago received a scholarship from the help EWG coach gave us and she played on a rival team, her coach sorry to say in not one of the 5 or 6.

ewg coach for pc job?! Really?! Only person that should be getting that offer is the bv coach. Won both yrs with decent talent. Some others r good coaches but not d one college material. Rest of hs coaches r just poor.

People really think what is posted on this site is gospel? There are only a few posts now and then that have no agenda or are not just stirring the pot. The EWG coach has not been offered the PC job. He lives out of state and is not looking to move back to RI. I asked an EWG parent I work with and told it is Lyndon State in Vermont D3 do not know if offer was excepted.

The coach of EWG works to try and place players from RI on college teams. He is a connection between the player and college coaches, and has done a lot of good work for many RI players over the years, about 20 years. He is very helpful and takes a great deal of his own time to help others. I wish we had that with our coach. However, I think he will have a tough road ahead next year and beyond. EWG had a great run, but for a small town (towns) their well may have run dry.

HS coaches aren't the only ones who can nominate, actually anyone can (although I suspect a coach or AD carries more weight) -- but like was mentioned, I'm sure there is a mechanism to filter out 90+% by the time the real committee gets to work.

Agree; EWG has had a nice run and of course "that's why they play the game", but on paper given the performance of JV and MS teams that unless new talent comes in, the team will probably struggle in D1. Just a realities of a small public school district (EWG HS has less than 300 females).

Smithfield might be the best example of a (relatively) small school (enrollment is closer to 400 females) that at least can keep a core group of their school teams together in club -- East Greenwich will be interesting as about the same size as Smithfield, but my impression is their kids mostly go to premier and don't stay with local soccer after u12...

Did Smithfiled JV win a game last fall, or score a goal? I think it is well known that EWG will struggle, but it is likely that Smithfield will be right there with them fighting for that last playoff spot. It seems like Smithfield has already dropped out of the ranks fo really strong teams. Did they even get out of the quarter finals last fall? Or make the playoffs? Don;t worry about East Greenwich theyll be fine/.

You are right.. but the pipeline for Smithfield is promising..and the poster's point about the ability for their town program to spin off a premier wing is right..

EG -- didn't see much in their JV, but maybe their current varsity is heavy underclass?

Good to see how Lincoln will fare in D1; hope that previous comment is accurate..not surprised on CW, but surprised Coventry would want to drop...

Black team for now due to the fact she was injured during tryouts and the fact that the club wanted to make two team$. There are a few girls on the Black team that shouldn't be there and have been told so and same with the Red team, that whole situation was politics at it's finest. There will be movement. Regardless she also plays for Albertson Fury 96 NPL.

Thanks mom! I'm almost positive she was injured all year. How can you blame them for placing her on second team. If healthy and fit she belongs on top team but that was not the case and they placed her appropriately. And that decision help to motivate her to get fitter and was good for her overall being. Politics would have been placing her on top team like another child that made it cause of daddy. Kudos to bayside they Alomst got it right except for one player. And black team GK could be best GK of all three. Don't be surprised if she makes the jump to the top along with 3 or 4 other girls.

Is the new alignment for fall 2014 out yet? Any coaching changes?
