My daughters has been with Surf RI for 2 years but with some turmoil we are thinking about other clubs. We don’t enjoy all the travel around the country and my daughter plays lacrosse. We hear that the Strikers program is good for multi-sport athletes and is a bit more relaxed than the other big name clubs and less costly. I know they aren’t a GA or ECNL club but I’m not worried about that. Does anyone have any insight they can provide? I have a 2011 and a 2014.

Look into Rams FC. Very affordable, very family friendly and encourage the multi sport kids. They have great coaches and play in the same leagues as others.

After previous poor experiences with two well established RI clubs, we have had a great experience with Strikers. They have a range of teams, some years playing at a high level, but some still developing- this is typically the case at any of the clubs. We pay a fraction of the cost of many of the “national pathway” clubs, yet play in many of the same tournaments, and have success against these same clubs. If you are looking to play at a competitive level minus the insane, and often unnecessary travel Strikers is definitely worth a look.

If your kids truly are multisport athletes and have zero interest in playing soccer above the JUCO level, then Strikers is probably the right fit for you. But don’t believe that they play at a high-level, most games will be against glorified town teams. Also, they have a DOC, D1 coach, in name only. He is a super nice person, but he is there to coach his kids and that is about it.

I think the original poster was looking for information knowing that this is not GA or ECNL/ECRL- I guess you don’t think there is any purpose in playing for any other reason besides the dream of playing in college. That’s silly. There is room for players who want to play competitively without the pressure of competing for college rosters…you do realize we are talking about elementary-middle school aged children, right? Again, I will confidently say that our teams (I can only speak for two teams that I am familiar with) have met continued success against the “Pre-National and National” level teams at the clubs who charge much more than Strikers. My children’s’ teams have yet to play a single town team in two years of play that I can recall, so I’m not quite sure where that stat is coming from, unless you consider Bayside, RI Surf, NE Surf, Seacoast, NEFC, Scorpions, Liverpool, etc “town teams”….but if that makes you feel better have at it! Families all have different financial situations and scheduling commitments- some have one child to dedicate all their time and travel to, some have multiple children in multiple sports. All of those factors need to be considered. Not all clubs are understanding of that. I’m not pushing one club over another, just stating our positive experience and hope it helps others to give it a try if it sounds like something you’re looking for.

Then when their kids teams step on the field against a club like the Strikers and lose the excuses come rolling out. They can’t fathom that kids can have fun, families have flexibility, pay less and their kid will be just as good at soccer when they wake up at 18 and realize they spent all that money for nothing so they could tell all their friends…”my daughter plays for XYZ”.

Sounds like Strikers going to be popping off come tryouts. I hope there is enough parking to handle it.
