    Strikers Program

My daughters has been with Surf RI for 2 years but with some turmoil we are thinking about other clubs. We don’t enjoy all the travel around the country and my daughter plays lacrosse. We hear that the Strikers program is good for multi-sport athletes and is a bit more relaxed than the other big name clubs and less costly. I know they aren’t a GA or ECNL club but I’m not worried about that. Does anyone have any insight they can provide? I have a 2011 and a 2014.

Look into Rams FC. Very affordable, very family friendly and encourage the multi sport kids. They have great coaches and play in the same leagues as others.

Agree that Rams is a good option. Stay away from Higher Level. They are the worst and run by a con man AH. He fronts as the DOC but then puts minimal time and effort into the program.

what’s the turmoil with surf? We were considering trying out but may have to rethink our decision.

New girls director is bringing his top girls over so the top team is fairly predetermined. I’ve talked to a few Strikers parents in other teams. Their 2011 team is strong and the cost is half of Surf. Also the director is a D1 college coach for Bryant women’s. I’m going to try it.

After previous poor experiences with two well established RI clubs, we have had a great experience with Strikers. They have a range of teams, some years playing at a high level, but some still developing- this is typically the case at any of the clubs. We pay a fraction of the cost of many of the “national pathway” clubs, yet play in many of the same tournaments, and have success against these same clubs. If you are looking to play at a competitive level minus the insane, and often unnecessary travel Strikers is definitely worth a look.

This has been our experience with The Strikers as well. Our daughter plays on the 2011 team. They are a talented group. They play against and typically will beat, the teams that pay 2-3x what we pay. If you are looking to travel all over the place this isn’t the right club for that. While Strikers are a premier club it’s easy on the wallet and allows our daughter play other sports while keeping soccer as her top choice. Coach cares a ton and isn’t getting paid a salary so he’s also not going to leave for a pay raise and gut the team like most of these other coaches at these commercial clubs.

Strikers have finally found a way to market themselves. Fake posts on TSRI. Congrats.

If your kids truly are multisport athletes and have zero interest in playing soccer above the JUCO level, then Strikers is probably the right fit for you. But don’t believe that they play at a high-level, most games will be against glorified town teams. Also, they have a DOC, D1 coach, in name only. He is a super nice person, but he is there to coach his kids and that is about it.

Lol. This year won 75% of the games against all the clubs and parents paying 3x the cost and driving all over the place. NEFC, Scorpion ECRL, Multiple Stars teams all wins. Bayside 2011 won’t step on the same feel knowing they’d get beat handily. Not going to beat an ECNL club or NEFC Girls academy but outside of that mostly beat the rest.

Whoa- not sure why you are so triggered. I’m simply a parent who has found a club that I am happy to recommend to others. I think the original poster was looking for information knowing that this is not GA or ECNL/ECRL- I guess you don’t think there is any purpose in playing for any other reason besides the dream of playing in college. That’s silly. There is room for players who want to play competitively without the pressure of competing for college rosters…you do realize we are talking about elementary-middle school aged children, right? Again, I will confidently say that our teams (I can only speak for two teams that I am familiar with) have met continued success against the “Pre-National and National” level teams at the clubs who charge much more than Strikers. My children’s’ teams have yet to play a single town team in two years of play that I can recall, so I’m not quite sure where that stat is coming from, unless you consider Bayside, RI Surf, NE Surf, Seacoast, NEFC, Scorpions, Liverpool, etc “town teams”….but if that makes you feel better have at it! Families all have different financial situations and scheduling commitments- some have one child to dedicate all their time and travel to, some have multiple children in multiple sports. All of those factors need to be considered. Not all clubs are understanding of that. I’m not pushing one club over another, just stating our positive experience and hope it helps others to give it a try if it sounds like something you’re looking for.

You nailed it. I think so many parents want to justify spending $3500+ a year to themselves thinking their kids are getting better “training” and traveling around the country for nothing. Then when their kids teams step on the field against a club like the Strikers and lose the excuses come rolling out. They can’t fathom that kids can have fun, families have flexibility, pay less and their kid will be just as good at soccer when they wake up at 18 and realize they spent all that money for nothing so they could tell all their friends…”my daughter plays for XYZ”.

Absolutely ! I lived this life and the odds of your kids playing D1 is slim to none and by the time they get to college they are burnt out on soccer from all the travel and loss of their childhood. Multi sports are important for children and they offer a great support system at RI Strikers with coaches that are licensed and actually care .. not there to collect a paycheck or commission. I have 3 kids that went on to play college soccer at a D2 and D3 level, still enjoy it and are still playing to this day. I laugh at the parents who pay for an ECNL team and travel to play 5 minutes due to the sub rules. But keep drinking the Koolaid that these teams and coaches at the “elite” clubs are telling you. Your kids team is playing to fund the TOP tier teams with promises they will get to that top level eventually .. or until you stop drinking the koolaid and sober up to realize you just wasted a crap ton of money .. and for what ?? the patch or the car logo you drive around with? Life is short people .. enjoy these moments with your kids. This is now a business to almost every club out there .. they don’t care about you or your kids. They care about what is coming out of your wallet. Strikers is the cheapest club and you get the best experience. Coming from someone who used to get drunk of the koolaid. #Wakeup

When you try to build a program, fail at that and as a coach, you run to other clubs and then bash the place you came from.

Sounds like Strikers going to be popping off come tryouts. I hope there is enough parking to handle it.

How do you know this? Was your daughter given an offer for the GA team or the DPL team.
