    Revolution Academy Cranston

    Revolution Academy with CLCF
My oldest got an invite. Anyone know anything about it? Still just 9 years old and it seemed early to me. Same price as some of the major premiers that I see listed anyway. Is it worth it at a few thousand dollars? Anyone have any experience. Most are telling me to just go w NEFC in RI. Thank you

Listen to the people telling you not to do it. That’s just a money grab. If the kid is really good pay for them to play w other talented kids not just the best kids in one town.

it is a total money grab and a glorified town travel team. They will promise you the world and that your kid will make it to the actual Revs academy. Their older teams don't even play in top leagues and most stay in Super liga and some move into NECSL. Don't fall for the hype. Been there, done that and learned a lesson

Very well said. That only thing I will add is that if you have a girl stay particularly far away. Club president only cares about the boys program. The girls are constantly left behind. Always calling up other teams on game days just to fill roster spots w kids who had very limited experience. You can complain all you want and never get a response. We bailed really early on w my daughters and they are now really happy with Surf for about the same price

Would have gotten a call back if you were a good looking single mom w financial issues. You must not fit that demographic.

Not entirely true. One of that guys best friends has a daughter who came up through the CLCF system. She just finished a really great high school career with loads of accolades. With this being said I doubt the girls are forgotten.

can you provide more details on this girl? As a parent of a girl in Cranston, that plays high school and club, there have not been any recent graduates that i am aware of in all of RI that had a great high school career with accolades that played for the Revs Academy or CLCF.

If it’s who I am thinking she played clcf soccer as a young kid and then moved on and played for a Mass NEFC team as a teenager. Not thinking she ever put on a Revolution uniform.

Save your money and let the kid have fun w friends. If they look like they are going to be a real talent contact a real club team for a session. They can find a spot for them and your money will be better spent

We’ve had a good experience in Cranston with Revs academy. Great supporting be coach, good development and less expensive then NEFC, Bayside and Surf! No experience with other clubs coaching wise just with tryouts. It all about finding the right fit for your daughter. Not every club is right for every kid.
revs academy in Cranston has not been around long enough for someone to graduate HS and gone thru the program.

CLCF has gone down hill since Pete gave up the director job. He loved the game and was in it for the kids. New guy freely admitted to a few people I know that he does it to provide more traffic for his business

I’m not sure you’re speaking about the correct program. We’ve been involved with CLCF soccer for about 8 years. Don’t know a Pete that was in charge. The director of the Academy does not have a second “business” he’s just a coach. CLCF, JWU and RI Rogues. There is a director over the Rec program but he does love the game and is definitely in there for the kids! Please don’t bash the program that has done a lot for so many.

You are talking about a director of coaching for Revs. He is great as most would agree. Honestly this is all people need to worry about because he looks out for the kids. They are talking about someone else who really doesn’t have anything to do w everyday happenings

Not the original poster but similar situation. We have no issues w the coaching. He is very young but keeps the girls very busy and they all look forward to practice. Haven’t had any dealings w the top guy other than the moms going back and forth over who would pick up the uniforms from him and get eye banged. Main issues we have as a team are the facilities which is probably a Cranston issue more than anything. Nets are all torn. Dads on the boys team are always zip tying and the fields are atrocious and have big holes. Probably paying a bit much for what we actually get but true premier is almost double so we will wait a few years.
