This is correct although I would still say the one player from NK and two sisters from Smithfield are "elite" players.
There are a number of other ECNL players from EG, Smithfield, LaSalle but I would say there are a greater number of non-ECNL players of equal caliber playing RI HS soccer.
Just stop soccer mom - the "younger" players played varsity last year and both got decent time playing, including the one who is injured this year who had a significant role in winning the championship.
First you dis the accomplishments of the MM twins and now act like these freshman were not key pieces of your team last year.
Please stop and just accept that LaSalle is not and will never be the team theyhave been for the last four years - doesn't mean they wont win again but they will never be as dominant as they were when the twins were there.
As far as ECNL, the league is marketing but the 2 ECNL players that play for Smithfield are elite players as is the one fron NK.
Okay...you sure told me. Thanks ECNL dad for schooling me on that, and I hope all that $ you're spending wins a nice big scholarship for her. And regarding LS's future...only time will tell. Just hope I won't be sitting anywhere near you. BTW, I never dissed the M's., as i said in my earlier post, we were among their biggest cheerleaders. Just tired of sitting by while solid contributing d-1 players get overlooked by the coach and sportswriters for D-2 players simply because they play for an ECNL team. In my opinion, it should be based on their play on the field during the hs season against the toughest competition. That's all, good luck with your season and may the best team win

No need to drag the D1 vs D2 argument into this thread. This is about LaSalle. And anyway how did those elite ECNL players do against Mansfield the other night? If the discussion is about game play during the high school season, let's hear some scores.

If we should be looking at rating players on their game play "against the toughest competition," then what do you make of the player from LaSalle scoring so many goals against the perennial powerhouse teams of Coventry, Craston West, Warwick Vets, Toll Gate, and other D1 teams last year that would have been hard pressed to beat Bishop Keough in D3? I watched this player score her 6th goal of the game against Scituate last year with about 10 seconds left in the game, which the score was already about 8-0. Is this the caliber of play and the character of players, treams, and coaches that you think the projo is looking for in their sports reporting? Is that what it means to be a "solid contributing d-1 player?"

i know you Smightfielders are still chafing over the 6-2 butt kicking you took in the championship game last year, but there's no need to point out the weaknesses of D-1 in the process. You had players that ran up their goal tally against the many weak teams in the division as well. Better luck this year though, and don't be sad--just because you didn't get to be one of the 5 players to watch, maybe you'll get athlete of the week sometime this fall. Good luck--and please let us know how it went against Mansfield!!

If the "solid contributing d-1 player" is being "overlooked by the coach," maybe they aren't really that solid. If the coach is not watching them, why would the Projo suggest that anyone else should watch them?

Simple answer: not a very good coach. These girls can pretty much coach themselves by this time and without saying much more, if you asked the team, they would tell you who are their strongest players....'nuff said

If the fact that a d2 player was recognized by the Projo bothers you that much, man-up and send the girl a text explaining why you don't think she deserves to be recognized. Either that or complain to the Projo sports staff. Your continued rants on this site are quickly going to label you as one of the "5 Morons to Watch" of Talking Soccer.
