With all the recent coaching moves in the world of RI college basketball i.e. PC URI and Brown Men’s and PC and URI women what are some off the changes we can expect on the soccer scene.
Men’s College Soccer
Brown Bears - Pat Laughlin has done a great job with Mike Noonan’s (Clemson) left over’s and I think will maintain the level of recruiting needed to compete in the Ivy League and Nationally.
Bryant Bulldog’s - Seamus Purcell after a dismal 2-13-1 season and a combined 12-49-5 in his first four season at the D1 Level I think it’s safe to say coach Seamus is in the hot seat.
Providence Friars - 1st year head coach Craig Stewart will be under the microscope replacing long time coach Chaka Daley (Michigan) and maintaining PC Big East contender status.
URI Rams - John O’Connor will have much to prove in the next two seasons under his extension. He seemed to ride Bradley’s boys to A10 stardom but has since failed both in conference and on the recruiting trail.
Women’s College Soccer
Brown Bears - Phil Pincince Has had a long career at brown maybe to long after 34 season and lots of success in the 1990’s browns women have been on the decline finishing below 500 2 of the last three years in the Ivy league 6-12-5.
Bryant Bulldogs - Chris Flint’s bulldogs saw much improved marks in the past season and look to be headed in the right direction. But with a combined record of 22-43-10 over the last 4 years it won’t take to many 5 win seasons to have Bryant AD’s thinking coaching change.
Providence Friars - Jim McGirr received a two year extension after reaching the Big East Tournament for the first time in his seven seasons. Although he has show improved mark from his first three seasons at the helm his conference record is still a sore spot at 15-42-9 with his best season of 5-6 in 2011.
URI Rams - Mike Needham in his first season has shown some improvement from the Shaw era and should get at least three to four more seasons to prove his worth in the A10.
