I agree and for the naive out there it's not just about winning the state cup. You need to win the state cup with a team that has a chance to compete at the regionals. Barely winning the state cup will not get you far at the regionals. You want to go there with a chance to win your division, possibly win the semi's and above all a chance to win the finals.

We are competing against bigger states with bigger talent pools than we have here. It's not that they have better players it's that they have excellant core players and excellant players that can come off the bench. here in RI we're lucky to have excellant core players and our benches are usually on the weak side compared to the stronger states.

So stop the shining and to all the kids that are going to PA have a great time you never know if you will get to go again so enjoy it. To those that just missed practice harder and maybe next year is your turn.

Tell us what other team did it and if they went out to get players from a top club. I know our team parents would never allow it because they wouldn't even go to the game and would boycott that decision. How did Portsmouth parents go along with it. I guess we have heard from one that wasn't happy.

Portsmouth is a class act organization and now with this drama, you are looking real bad that you aligned yourselves with people who used your organization to get what they wanted and the Portsmouth brass let it slip right in the front door. These people were seen laughing and saying what a great deal we got. Out girls play a lot and we win a state cup. They know they will never win in MA, so they used a RI town team and at the same time these parents took the portsmouths teams best player. What a deal!! I
am sure the Portsmouth parents are happy with that.
Well said.....I think ...I couldn't understand most of it. But I'm from Rhode Island so give me a break.

Well, maybe your town's parens wouldn't go along with it (so you say), but obviously it didn't bother more than one Portsmouth parent. They played and won and very few from Portsmouth are complaining.

I think bayside u12g should boycott the oakwood tourney this weekend because they have to play two games on Saturday and one of those is against mighty NEFC. That's much too much soccer for a 12 year old to play in a single day.

Who cares who did it or not. SRI allows these thing to happen. Go complaint to SRI. All premier teams do this and so do towns. Again Portsmouth won and you loss. FYI - there are no thread on MA talking about is little petty U12 State Cup. Ma does not recognize U12 for the purpose of State Cup competition. Only in Rhody.

Smell the coffee...in competitive youth club sports, team management know that it's inevitable that not every parent is going to be happy during the course of a season. They know they're gonna piss off 2-3 parents a year whateer they do. The winning clubs basically decide that, hey, if we're going to piss off some parents regardless, let's piss off the parents of the least talented kids. They're easy to replace next year.

I am taking a WAG and speculating that the only Portsmouth parents unhappy about using SSS players for state cup also happen to have kids whose playing time was cut because of those SSS kids. Another WAG is that the Portsmouth parents whose kids played a lot with those kids from SSS are thrilled to be going to Hershey. Ya think?

Bayside parents from across the bridge. Please stop this feud. You are making us look bad. Focus on what you can control - practice. Prepare your team better maybe next year come around you can proof that you are the better team. I know this feud goes wayyy back but it is over. You are no longer the team from across the bridge.

If they were named Woodside or Cityside perhaps the issue would be smaller.
But a team from the bay beat a team called Bayside and that is a ROFL for the rest of us.

Watched yesterday's u12g finals and I just want to say that I thought Bayside played well for long stretches of the game. They had a stretch where they just let Portsmouth put the game away. I thought they fought admirably and deserve credit for representing their club in this age group. They have very good skill and will be a tough team going forward. Hopefully both teams represent RI better than the parents on this site. To the Bayside player who told her dad to be quiet I applaud you and your team mates.

No, it's way more than that. Trust me. Many people are upset.

The dad of this particular player ( K.L) is actually the coach of her town team just over the bridge from Portsmouth. Why he didn't enter her team in the state cup is the question everyone should be asking. Instead he drove her over the bridge to play with her SSS teammates. What did he tell the parents of the team that he coaches ? KL. the clown.
This is worse than Johnny Bench. This guy sold his team out and what do you say to those town parents as a coach of the team. Sorry, I had something better to do and play for another town. This is probably the worse thing you could ever do to a team that you coach. I hope the parents lay into this guy. You are what is wrong with youth sports. Just can't believe you would leave your team high and dry to go play for another town. No class and how can you look your team in the face and say sorry but I just had something better going on. Give this guy the SRI coach of the year award.

Should the BWP players feel bad? No way they played for each other, and they gave that BS team all it could handle. If a couple things had gone differently in the fist half, it could have been a different game.

I also saw the u15 girls. It was not a close match. BS scored early and the BWP girls had a bad 15-20 min stretch that killed them. Better team won, no question. I will say this though, BWP was never going to win that match, but a whole butch of people are busy patting themselves on the back over at BS, when KV really carried them. They are a very very different team when she is not on the feild. I am not so sure the system prevailed as much as the talent of a hand full (and that really is what separates the teams, 5-6 girls) of the players.
In two games in State Cup, Bayside beat them 11-0 with 2 shots on net, in 2 games!
Seriously, BWP played hard but you really think it came down to 1 player making the difference? She scored 3 of the 11 goals in the series.

You people are delirious some times in here.

Just an independent observer but I have never heard of a guy do that to his own team. What are you teaching your kid about ethics! Do you have no shame. Why would you ever do that and sell out your team for a trophy. Would love to hear the excuse when the parents start asking. You should never be able to coach a team again in any state. You should be banned from coaching.

So are you saying that SRI allows players to roster on two different town teams? And then on any given day decide what town / team will be graced with your presence?
