I haven't seen many Town teams preach player development they seem to stress winning is all that matters. I am however, getting sick of the parents who think there kid is the best yet they never perform on the field so I was kind of hoping this would be a bit less having better coaches. I have thought about Bayside, Tidal wave and Blackwatch as they seem to be the closest ones. According to each team's website they all appear to have decent coaches. Any thoughts on these teams

Tidal Wave is in 3rd division Maple, were competitive in RI State Cup, place fairly well in tournaments, and have multi sport athletes (most three seasons). In reality with more lax training schedules these clubs should not be able to even hang with the big dogs, but they always do.
It's all about finding the right fit.

If it doesn't feel right or your daughter feels overwhelmed, cross that one off the list. And always remember that they want your money, not your daughter. Don't listen to the college scholarship song and dance. One kid from each team might get a significant scholarship, all the rest of the families are paying for that kids chance to get some cash for college.

Trust me, you and her will know if she belongs there by the time the night is over and then go from there. Some girls teams will welcome her and some will shut her out and wish she wasn't even there. Even if she is good enough for that club you really would be better off elsewhere.

We too are looking for some options for my daughter. She is also U16 first year and would like to play and contribute at the HS level-but has no interest in playing in college-even if she had the ability.
The problem with the town we are in isn't the coaching at her level-it is the ability of the players still in the town system. They are great kids and good players but it's not at the level she needs to continue to improve. This also dictates the competition she will play against. She had a very successful first year at HS and it would be nice for her to build on that.
She is one of the multi-sport athletes that never fully committed to soccer until now.
She is staying with her town team for the coming season-she had made that commitment
and will keep it. She is interested though in supplementing what they offer with other things-clinics, pick up leagues, perhaps a personal trainer who has been recommended who teaches speed, agility and soccer skills.
The exposure she had this year to the best players in our town was an eye-opening experience for her-she realizes how much work she needs to do if she wants to become a contributing member of her school team.
So for now that is her situation. In the spring when there are tryouts for Premier she will go to what is recommended for her but until then any suggestions are welcome.

Also if you want her to get the type of training as you mentioned then you need to talk to the premier club NOW. She would need to give up the Spring commitment to the town team. Premier tryout are held during the summer and because she is a SH player training does not start until the winter season 2012 if you decided to wait until summer 2012. If you don't make the transition now she will have to wait until winter of 2013 in order to play on a premier team. By that time she would be entering her junior HS year so not sure that is a good investment on your part and hers.
