    U-13 rays and red cups

I was at fort adams this weekend to watch my daughter play against the U-13 Rays. Well when the rays parents started to make there way over to the field to watch several of them had large plastic red cups. So what do you think may have been in those cups? Kool- aid? Or possibly an adult beverage? Not the place for that folks, this is youth soccer and in my eyes is inappropriate behavior.

So you actually don't know what was in those cups. Even more inappropriate are false accusations.

Sure you may say this is an assumtion on my part. But have you ever been to a rock concert or a proffesional ball game and spent some time in the parking lot before? If so you probably saw many folks having the adult beverage of choice out of one of those red cups! The post was not meant to put you or your team down but to bring to light how inappropriate that type of behavior is at a youth game. Enough said...

If your post wasn't meant to put anyone or any team down then you should have refrained from naming any team specifically. You could have still made your point clear....

And maybe the team needs to get new cups...LOL

Not enough said actually. I have those same red cups at home that we use anytime we eat outside. We do not drink alcohol, so there is usually some type of soft drink in them. If your guess is right then I couldn't agree more. I am not from that team. But naming and accusing people of something you have no proof of is offensive.

If you look back on the op you will see it is stated as a question on what may be in the cups, leaving it up to the individual reader as to what may be in them. Also other than the team being named no individuals were singled out. If you think that is offensive what would you think if you were at your kids game and there was the possibility of inappropriate behavior? Probably would think there was kool aid in the cup?

Personally, I don't have a problem with a parent having an adult beverage at a youth game as long as they are discreet about it (i.e. in red cups) and they behave responsibly (i.e. don't get belligerent, don't drink and drive, etc.). Also, parents who do such must accept the risk they take by breaking the law and be willing to accept any punishment if they get caught.

I never would do it myself. Totally not worth the risk or the trouble. I got enough problems :)

And believe me, I understand the reasons we have rules against it.

Having been on the Rays sideline last season listening to some of our own parents complain about their daughters' lack of playing time, I am surprised many of us did not just start drinking straight from the bottle--hell with the red cups!

Just an FYI it is in the maple by-laws that consumption of alcohol at maple games is not permitted.

I'm pretty sure that there isn't a youth sporting event anywhere where alcohol is allowed. And for good reason - emotions run too high. However judging people by the color of their cups is ridiculous. I guess blue cups would have been acceptable.

Was not at the game so who knows I was only stating the rules. You sound like a disgruntled parent who has been tipping the red cup... oh wait I forgot you prefer blue...

I think everyone knows the rules. I'm not part of either team either, I just find naming the team with what could be wrong accusations annoying.

Yes I have read many. However an accusation of wrong doing is a lot different than an opinion. IMO:)

OK, I don't like to trash other teams, but read this and had to answer. You should be a little less worried about a group of parents who were cooking and enjoying each others company while their daughters were warming up an hour before their game way out of site of the team behind the parking lot on another field, and a little more worried about your team getting the ball out of their own half and actually taking a shot a goal. If you want to throw stones I'm going to throw them right back. This past weekend at Fort Adams we gathered in the cold an hour before game time and set up grills and made Crepes Suzette, are we evil monsters because we enjoyed them and did not share them with the Tidal Wave parents. I bet you guys stayed in your cars and complained about how cold it was. We happen to be a group of parents that get along enjoy our time together. This is a rare thing to find in this cut-throat world of premier soccer we are all involved in. If I remember correctly your team barely even spoke to each other during the game and all exited their cars to watch the game as it started. You should strive to be more like us and build a TEAM rather show your pettiness and accuse of us of things.
