Our team played in the seaside classic this weekend. the bad weather held off and for the most part the fields were in good shape. The referees were to be kind lacking experience. Field marshalls at every game were in our experience useless. Anyone have a similar experience?

The officials are a problem at all levels not just town run tournaments such as seaside. Who wants to become a referee today? There is hours of training only to be ridiculed by a parent who thinks there kid is playing at the world cup level. Let the kids play and the official officiate and just be quiet and maybe you would see more quality in officials.

Your job as a parent/spectator when watching your kids play is to cheer your kid and team on and keep your mouth shut when it comes to the Refs. The other thing to keep in mind is that if your team is behind or being outplayed it is not the fault of the Refs.

Not only that, but I am done listening to parents and coaches whine about refs costing them (not the kids ) u12 or u13 games...just stop!

most of the referees were not much older than the players and that is the problem. The older referees were just that old and imobile. As an aside the host town parents had bigger mouths than any club program I've encountered and intimidated the young refs as field marshalls whos kids played on the teams they were monitoring looked on. Boasted about quality officiating and there was none to be found.

Let's face it
If they were good referees they would not be doing U12G games. But I must say that usually if they are bad they are bad both ways.
