Talk about diluting a diluted product even further! In Jersey the teams you mention will surely take players from PDA and Matchfit if accepted, don’t think that will be good and don’t think those clubs will allow it from a business perspective. Nice thought on the alignment but will never happen.

There is a real momentum within the ecnl doc's and club presidents to limit the travel. The only way that happens is via expansion.

You can add to it that the higher ups at us soccer aren't the same people as 3 years ago....

What Glenn Crooks failed to mention...

ECNL has agreed to absorbing most but not all DA teams
ECNL has agreed to try to limit travel where possible
ECNL has agreed to upgrading their minimum standards for clubs
ECNL has agreed to no more than 18 active players per roster with a cap of 24 for a season.

USS has agreed to recognize ecnl has the top youth league (mls and usl academies are a seperate entity)
USS has agreed to move to graduation year age groups
USS has agreed to keep the same scouting network used for DA but apply it to ECNL
USS will support coaching education and referee training

USYS and US Club have agreed to hold a single state cup.
State cups end there. No more regionals. Open to ecnl.

US Soccer National Championships (U15,U16,U17 only)
          1 US Club Team
          1 USYS NL Team
          4 ECNL Teams.

You can't be serious. What an utter waste of time, energy, money and angst for so many soccer families was this GDA debacle. Everyone responsible for it should be kicked to the curb.

To be honest this would be great thing for youth soccer if it were true. This ECNL vs DA thing is only hurting the kids. Have one league for all the best kids to play in. More teams being added locally lessens travel. I for one would be very happy if this is true

They pretty much have been or left on their own that is why everything is open for negotiation.

Makes way to much sense for it to be fact.

ONLY if the reduced travel and stress equates to reduced monetary burden for families. And not holding my breath. They will find some other way to extract more dollars to make up for the reduced travel.

There is a lot of cynicism out here with good reason. Everything that goes in youth soccer is always about money.

It's what's being negotiated. US Soccer really wants a single youth pyramid and they want to have input on how its managed at the very top but have conceded ECNL will be the league of choice for non pro clubs. ECNL in return for allowing more oversight will leverage us soccer for coaching education and refs. USYS will essentially become the true grassroots organization and along with the ncaa pushed really hard for the grad year +1 age groups. Nothing is final. At least they are talking. From what I hear the whole EDP business model is in jeopardy. They might get relegated to tournaments only.

The tournaments and ecnl showcase events will still take place. They are trying to address the week to week travel.

The consumer will be the final word just as they were in with gda. If these supposed negotiations once again exclude market research and focus on what consumers want to buy, they are yet another destructive waste of time.

If they ignore the market, they will suffer the fate of the gda.

                                What is the market?

This reorg has nothing to do with the GDA's successes or failures. GDA may have lost clubs to the ECNL but they are winning the player battle. That is a fact. BDA minus the MLS clubs is still far superior than the Boys ECNL. That is a fact.

Bottom line. It costs US Soccer 9 million a year to run both leagues. US Soccer really doesn't want to run leagues so a little piece of that 9M gets them out of running leagues but allows them to maintain influence. And you better believe that the more the $ increases the more influence they will have.
