IMO a national search should have been done to find a person with high-level club soccer background. High-level club soccer is not the same as college soccer, it takes more work from the coaching staff and directors to make positive things happen at a club. This effort has been lacking at FC Bucks since EL. Often, college coaches looking from the outside at coaching club soccer think it's a sweet job, but they fail to understand all the challenges coming from club parents and players, along with the travel/time involved. A DOC is on the field 4 nights a week and most weekends for 9 or more months. I still believe FC Bucks ECNL have the tools to be successful. FC Bucks also made changes for the right reasons add that is positive. A good hire will go a long way!
There are other good candidates right here.
Big differences between college coach and club are time needed to be hands on and ability to deal with crazy parents. These posters. College coaches would just cut a kid or not play him/her. Club coaches have to have an ear always available.

Strong possibility BB will be the new DOC - you heard it here first!

The current coaches at FC Bucks, other than JM, are not at the level to run the club. I am not even sure JM is the type of "people person" needed to deal with parents and players. A national search is needed.

I don't mean right here as a club insider. JM does not need the headache if club admin. I mean candidates in this area. Between SE PA and NJ, good candidates. No nat'l search needed.

Enough is enough this is a complete joke, can’t make this up. Only Bucks would get suckered like this.

Ah, there's your problem. DOC does not have to deal with any parents. He should remind them that they are free to leave any time they wish. We have 100 kids ready to take your kids spot right now. DOC should implement transparent policy if trying out for all players and making sure that the coaches see every kid many times in small groups and evaluate fairly. If current policy is not working, I would eliminate current coaches from evaluating any players and run them blind with other coaches. Let current coach pick 5 players he must have. Other 13 spots are at the mercy of the evaluators. If an ecnl club is run correctly, there should be turnover every year to lose 2-4 bottom players and add 2-4 new starters (really depends on what talent is on a team and what shows up from outside for tryouts). Closer to 2 every year at HS ages, but you get the point.

Zero chance. It is a decent paying position. For an ecnl club, they should be looking at bringing in a person with experience from a similar sized area and club (if you can't do better). Bring in an experienced soccer woman with something to prove.

A coach doesn't want to conform to club policies so gets fired. He convinces 4 really good players and a bunch of average players that he can do more for them in EDP than the ECNL machine can. After zero coaches showing up to their games and not even a year later he via Paul Roumey approach FC Bucks about Ignite becoming the 05 ECNL team. DM and CF basically tell them no but those kids are welcome to tryout and offer CM a team but not the 05's. PR does not like this so he reaches out to his buddy Scott Burns (their younger kids play together at Bucks) and they concoct the whole fire DM and hire CM as the DoC plan. CM takes the job and within 2 weeks blows out the entire girls side despite promising to take his time evaluating things. At the same time he proceeds to tell the Ignite team and the FC Bucks team that the only gaurantees to make the team are kids who he saw train at the NTC's, which is fair. The problem is there were only 3 of them including a goalie. A week later 16 (there was a lot of crying and begging taking place) of the eventual 20 ecnl spots were offered to players, including 3 to kids (2 turned him down to stay at PF) from outside of the two teams mentioned. That's important because he told the Ignite and FC Bucks players no kids from other clubs would be offered and he had the audacity to keep saying only 8 were offered. Promises were made of practicing at the Proving Grounds, promises were not kept. 2 players bolted. Those coaches who found out they got canned via Instagram took 90-100 players with them to other clubs. Fast forward to last Thursday and his stated intention to continue coaching our team. Why? Why would FC Bucks risk keeping him around so he can spend time convincing this team to follow him into his next folly? Why would they keep his assistants around so they can do the same with their teams? There is also his tenuous situation at Nova. It is no secret that the AD can't stand the guy and regrets the hire. So please FC Bucks just cut the cord now and let us all get some dignity back. And please keep PR via his stoop SB out of the decision making process.

From the 2005 thread - deserves to be posted here too. Looks like BRD 2 with a different age groups was attempted. CF and DM no doubt having learned from the dumpster fire 2006 is turned them down, but that didn’t deter. They found another way and this result is even more disastrous for the club. Paul, Chris Brian and Joe - what a group of manipulative people!

When will helicopter parents learn? Let your kids succeed or fail on their own! Stop trying to keep kids and teams together! Send you kids to what hopefully will be fair tryouts (clearly not at Bucks). And let them earn their way onto a team. I just can’t fathom how parents think it’s in their kids best interest to pave a path for them - in the end the kids lose out both in soccer and life.

This whole debacle further tarnishes Bucks already awful reputation.

The intentions at FC Bucks were good. There was an effort made to try and do the right thing. They removed a recreational level DOC, and attempted to replace him with someone they thought was knowledgeable about club level soccer. The majority of college coaches are not very good, and certainly lack an understanding of what it takes to successfully develop a club program. Experience will be key going forward. There are few things worse than driving to Zarapath or Downingtown at rush hour from our area; and all the negatives associated with having to travel that distance 3-nights a week. Repair FC Bucks and people will stay. The club was great not long ago and can get back to that level with the right people in charge.

Why would anyone stick around at this point? Time is running out for our girls - the club’s reputation is trashed, no college coaches will put any credence in a player from Bucks at this point. I think people have realized the patch at Bucks is worth absolutely nothing. And when Bucks loses the patch it will come as a surprise to absolutely no one.

There are good DOC candidates in this area already. Pick a good one; not a carpetbagger. They will be fine. Maybe they merge with PF...both are Adidas clubs. Like PDA has several.

Your choice to stick around as for me - after watching bucks flounder for years - I have zero faith in their leadership and their ability to hire a quality DOC. It has been one disappointment/ disaster after another - and the team/club will have difficulty attracting top talent or even any talent with their reputation, lack of facilities coupled with so many other ECNL clubs in close proximity. Bucks in a downward spiral and there is no way out . Stick around at your daughters peril.

Many have already left this team and others. More will leave after this season.

The mistake wasn’t just hiring CM, it was not getting rid of CF (and LS too) when they had the chance. Maybe they’ll wise up and do a proper housecleaning this time because as long as they’re here things will never change. The leadership at bucks was awful long before CM was hired.
