Yeah, because they don't get any money so who cares. Happens with other women sports too. All they get is a spot and schools fulfill title IX requirements. Money goes to better players.

Commitments don't equate to scholarships. Essentially it's a place on a team for one season. That could be as the 11th player, the 20th player. 30th player, the 35th player in some cases. Congrats to the kids, but commitments don't mean anything others than you initially have a spot on a team (with no guarantee of anything more than one season). It's a great thing for those kids because it represents an opportunity. How many are on the PDA South team? How many are still working toward commitments to D-1? How many aren't even pursuing it? It's too tough to know how impressive or unimpressive that number is without additional context.

at least they get an opportunity - unlike FCB where you can't move up and don't get the opportunity

For scholarships the amount is insignificant towards the total cost of an education. Most people would rather 0 athletic money at an Ivy than 75% at No Name U. Schools also stack so while athletic money may be low the total cost is still an unknown.
Athletic scholarships are year to year as well, just because you got money your freshman year you are not guaranteed the $ or a roster spot after 1st yr. Some schools do have policies about decreasing any aid but as an NCAA regulation that is the case.
The vast majority of money is spent by the end of Jan. If kids are still chasing D1 dreams it will more than likely either be a school that no one wants to go to or on their own dime.
The fact that 7 girls have committed is a great thing for them and the program. FCB has 2, and all the problems mentioned exists with FCB as well.
Lets also keep in mind that PDA will present these girls with many more opportunities in the upcoming months than FCB will with the appointment of a local HS coach.

Some of these “commitments” have to be made up.

Your point is a little drastic since some Ivies are very strong soccer schools and all are very strong academic schools. Also, the cost-benefit on that trade-off might actually be in favor of the ivy (depending on major) in a short number of years. When it comes to athletic money in general though, in my personal experience, parents do not think rationally. Another really smart girl (who is mediocre at soccer at best) on my daughter's team just overcommitted to a very low-level D1 academic school (with mediocre soccer). We have seen this several times for each of my three kids' friends and teammates. They will go anywhere to brag that they got athletic money and even further out on a small limb if its a D1 school. So many of them quit or transferred after only a year or two (actually, most of them). Parents are crazy and I want to ask all of them ... if your very bright kids did not play soccer, would you have even considered that school. One girl got maybe 20% athletic with very little money to go to a D1 school and quit after sophomore season after playing very little. She graduated 2 years later after paying $65k for each of those last two years. It wasnt worth it with the athletic money IMHO and without it, I would have made them transfer to a state school. Parents are cra cra for bragging rights and will pay nearly any dollar amount to get them, even if it makes zero sense.

Sad but true. So many announcements but will they really come to fruition. Academics comes first every single time. Full stop.

not for some - some will change colleges as much as they change soccer clubs when younger

True. Some just don’t realize the importance of academics or they just don’t care.

Bucks won 1:0 and 3:2. Don't know about Penn Fusion, and not sure why anyone would care on a Bucks thread.

It's a showcase, no one cares much about wins or scores that's what the ECNL league is for.

Huh? Why would you not care about your main competition and the club we would love to become? I like to bash PF as much as the next person, but they are always going to be mentioned on any SEPA soccer board.

I'm a Bucks parent, I care what Penn Fusion does as we have to play them at least twice a year and usually more often than that. If you are a Bucks parent and don't care about Delco or Pf, you might want to start paying more attention.

It’s a marketing game for sure, but that’s the youth football landscape these days.
