    Large Rosters

Having just accepted a place at SUSA we are told roster is 21 kids. Is this normal? Seems like a lot of players for one team.

Depends. Believe it or not if its a HS aged girls team, that 21 at the start becomes 18 real fast when the inevitable injuries happen. I dont agree with 20+ rosters but they do build in for injuries. I would rather start at 18 and bring 15 to games and promote from RL.

For high school age most rosters are 18-21. Must be mindful that you can only dress 18 players for a match. Sounds like a lot but it’s not when you factor in 2 goalies as well as injuries.

Yes very normal ages 15+. It will probably be 22 by the time November rolls around. It usually is fine but obviously players #14-22 are fighting for playing time scraps. If they want to play in college they best get used to that.

If you're in the #16-22 range then you should question if the training + little PT is worth it vs playing on a team one level below that and being a starter. The training, teammates and competition better be good and for ECNL it probably is. In general sitting does no one any good.

There are definitely different factors to consider, especially as the kids get older and their aspirations come into focus.

tell your wimp kid to work his @ss off to be a starter for his/her position. than a large roster will not matter.

Without knowing the age group its hard to offer you a solid response. What age group at SUSA?

Only know about the top older age groups but Susa and em are the only 2 ecnl clubs on LI and will roster more players than can even dress for games.

I think if the club cares at all about your kid and developing them, 18 is tops. The whole point of developing kids involves playing time. If they just want kids for practice dummies you are on the wrong team.

Wrong, you sissy parents love to brag about your wet nursed wimp kids around the company water cooler on a monday morning don't you? you luv to say the words "competitive soccer team"

But when the competition starts up you complain like little b-tches . This is competitive soccer, yes you fight for your starting spot each and every day at practice and game time.

Most of you faggots would not know competition if it came up and bit you in the @ss.

What are you smoking? You realize that you are talking about country club LI expensive soccer. Compete for what exactly? Who can afford to pay the most money to play soccer on some so-called top LI youth team? Get out of here with your nonsense and save it for something other than fancy schmancy youth soccer.

Harsh delivery but the statements accurate. It is what it is and parents cant havr it both ways. You cant gloat about how your kid plays for the best team at the biggest club in the highest league and then also complain about the dogfight for PT.

These parents most certainly can and it is obvious why. These are some of the best teams in some but it is all funded by a small pool of affluent pay to play parents and that is by the design of the industry. IF you are going to market your product to pushy affluent parents then your customers are going to be pushy affluent parents.

If you want to run youth soccer based on merit and talent - you cant be charging sky high prices with stupid travel expenses. The industry is the one that can't have it both ways.
