What's good about it is the competition is better than LIJSL and the travel isn't as taxing as some of the other options. The set up and structure looks to offer more stability and guarantee that the kids will always have a team to play on, which isn't always a guarantee for one-off EDP teams in smaller clubs, especially as kids get older and develop other interests or choose to concentrate on other sports.

Not so great, the price tag. Around $3000 to sometimes play local teams that cost under $1000.
Eh, you're much better off playing for Surf, especially if your kid wants to play past high school. Better training, better facilities, better options if your kid wants to play past high school.

Who is Smithtown Athletico? Are they part of Slammers or Kurt?

Thats crap. They play in the elite academy league. Basically all new jersey teams. That travel sounds pretty taxing

Sorry, should've specified that I was referring to the girls program. I don't know much about the Elite Academy League, other than it seems to be modeling itself after MLS Next and ECNL-which doesn't make much sense considering those options plus substantial EDP competition for boys, already exists.

They wish they were Kurt. Nothing at all to do with Atletico

Better facilities? Surf has no facilities. Slammers play at Moriches park which has two brand new turf fields. And Slammers keeps beating Surf so not sure what you're smoking. Not saying Slammers is great, but definitely better than Surf.

Long Island Slammers was formed last August during the pandemic, so less than a year ago and clearly not well timed. They have some good teams and seem to be improving but tough to tell with such a small sample size. Training wise, they have the further CW Post head coach and the Assistant coach from Stony Brook University working with the girls program. Boys side, I'm not sure but as someone said they're playing in the EAL and EDP. Time will tell with this club.

Smithtown SB Athletico, which is also sometimes just called SB Athletico, was formed by a disgruntled coach from Village of the Branch (VOB) a few years ago.

They have nothing to do with Smithtown, Stony Brook or KK Atletico (Atletico FC). As far as everyone can tell, they named themselves the way they did on purpose to draw people into their tryouts thinking that they were one of those other three clubs.
