You should do yours! USYS just released the list of teams accepted into National League, 2005 age group has 32 teams from across the country-zero are from Eastern NY. 2004 age group has 32 teams from across the country and there are only 2 teams from Eastern NY- SDA and LGN. The press releases reads like they are going back to a more requisite based system where the National League is for top teams that have performed well as opposed to handing the title of National League to any team that signs up to play. I'm all for it, quality over quantity.

National league isn't the same as EDP National League Conference (yes, naming convention is unnecessarily confusing).

There are three EDP run National League Conferences per region. The first two are team based Premier I and Premier II. The third is the club-vs-club which only exists in the mid-atlantic region at this point as there were not enough clubs entered to have it in all four EDP regions.

You clearly are lost. Club v Club d bag. When it comes out that Smithtown will have 07 - 02 in the C v C you will feel like a loser. Will probably go and bully some little kids because you were proven wrong.

What was announced, that you are referencing above, is the US Youth Soccer National League. What the club is participating in is the Club vs Club US Youth Soccer National league EDP Conference. (confusion caused by using same terminology for many different levels of play). You earn your way into US Youth Soccer National League by your level of play in Club vs Club US Youth Soccer National league EDP Conference.

The teams announced all earned their way into that level based on play. always has been that way. Very small amount of teams nation wide participate. best of the best so to say.

Look at the graphic halfway down the page to see what the differences are

Whoa, easy there! The post said nothing about Smithtown or Club v Club, we were talking about the USYS National League as opposed to the EDP run NL Conferences which are NOT the same thing. USYS National League is the top 28-32 teams per age group from across the country. The EDP run conferences are just that, EDP run conferences that happen to use the same name. IMHO, I think it's intentionally confusing and unfair to the teams that have earned a spot in the real National League.

I'm pretty sure if they knew they wouldn't have followed him. They're a decent team and it's a shame they have a crook as their parent admin. They should vote in a new parent admin.

Thanks for the explanation! I'm glad to see that the NL still exists in it's original form! I actually just started a new thread for this so there's a little more clarity!

I hate to break it to you but Club v Club isn't the National League, it's just a new name for EDP NPL. Kind of like the ECNL Regional League teams saying they play ECNL. Enough smoke and mirrors to go around for everyone!!!!

I thought Sachem was declining in players and teams. Lips runs both clubs so it probably would have made more sense for Smithtown and Sachem to just merge instead of them both merging with a west coast company.

Sachem has lost an embarrassing number of older teams, especially on the boys side. But they are 2 or 3 teams deep in both genders in most of the youngest age groups so they are still larger than most clubs on long island.

They did effectively merge into Smithtown.

The National League is not so much the top teams from across the country as much as it is the teams from across the country that are willing to pony up the money for that much money in travel expenses. The teams are among the best in the country, but there are a lot of teams playing in regional leagues that are better than a good number of the national league teams, they just can't or don't want to commit to the travel.
