Which still verifies my statement that for some people, $60k is a lot of money.

lets break it down
right off the bat (ballpark) the government takes 1/3
you are left with $40k/yr
that leaves you with about $3,300 month
either save or pay rent maybe $1800 month while you are saving for a house (which is about 20% down of a cheap _ss house perhaps around $250k)
now you have about 1500 month left over for electric, food, car payment (unless you already have a car) gas, maintenance for car, emergencies, etc, etc,
1.5 kids????? are you F_cking king Soloman????? who has 1/2 a kid? do they want to play soccer or not? do you want to go see a movie once in a while? or invite friends over?

That is the average salary on Long Island. I assume the average person has a place to live, no? And, the average person has a car on Long Island, no? I don't live on Long Island, but when I have been there I don't recall an abnormal amount of homeless nor hitchhikers, so I'm making an assumption on the above.
And, also, 1.5 is a term to identify an average household, but my data is outdated. Looks like I should use 1.9 kids per household.
So, what you may want to do is come out of the tower and look around. There's lots of people on LonGEYEslaaaaaand where $60k is a lot of money.
