Provide a decent product if you take the money or you will hear the legitimate complaints. That is way it works. We can take our players elsewhere easy enough and you can yell at an empty brat free field with your empty wallet.

You have to pick the best of the worst. Best coaching + best fit for your kid that's within a reasonable distance from home. Costs are basically the same so take that out of the equation.

From NY OW isn't worth the drive - the commute during the week is awful and the coaching is only meh. They're doing ok in DA because NE DA isn't competitive.

Since most soccer families are middle to upper class then that $1000 isn't much of a factor. If the choice is perceived as a vastly superior one for the players needs and goals you fork out the cash. If all things are equal then sure money might drive it. But it rarely is that black and white.

Most is not all and for those familes, they obviously also consider cost.
