My daughter plays for NYCFC, and I have to say that we are very unhappy about the lack of transparency from the club (aka Kaz), its really disappointing. I guess we better start looking for new options next year, since we are not going back to ECNL. Maybe NYCDC or Cedar Stars will have better teams, who knows. All of this uncertainty is starting to affect my daughters outlook on her team, she told me the other day that she did not want to go to practice, what for she said. I wish Kaz, or Ozzie would just tell us the real situation.

If the stories are all true, and NYCFC and NEFC leave, and Oakwood combines with Sporting and moves back to NPL or NL, why would ECNL not be an option? I'm just really curious as to why you think it would not be the best option for your kid

Not the poster but depending on each player's location and local club options the ECNL route might not work.

Where would club(s) ally and fury go if ever were to leave GDA. Would imagine ECNL is history for them.

Why can't those 2 move to the mid Atlantic conference if the NE blow up? They r no further away then lisc.

There is your first problem .... do you really think everything you read on TS is true?

The problem is that there are too many clubs between GDA and ECNL ..... either league alone is probably too big to be considered truly elite. In greater NY, there should not be more than 3 teams but 2 would be ideal. In Boston, there are already 3, so to add NEFC would be nuts. In CT, OW and Sporting are not doing anything together in the future other than Sporting playing in the OW indoor league. To add a third ECNL team in CT would continue to dilute very thin waters. There needs to be even a little more consolidation in ECNL after GDA goes away to make it a truly elite league. The goal should be that no ECNL teams should be challenged by any outside teams. Right now there are plenty of NPL level teams that can beat ECNL or GDA teams.

needs to go a lot further. there should be one GDA team per club.

IMO that ship has sailed. This a business serving well off soccer families, not a development platform. That goes for all these leagues. I was just thinking those players could continue to participate in the league, not that any league was particularly strong.

I may be crazy, but after reading Kaz’s email last night, I am excited about the possibility of my daughter actually playing with the best players In our area. She is in the 04 age group and has very strong bonds with her current NYCFC teammates, but we are always short players because kids are always being asked to play up. I see the WC 04 team practices, and I see they have picked up some really strong players, so the thought of finally having a combined group of 17 or 18 really strong players is exciting. I’m sure you Debbie Downers will tell me I’m wrong, but who cares

And no,Kaz’s email didn’t exactly say what was going on,but if you read between the lines you know
