combined past 14 is fine. At that point skill is more important then age and not necessarily related at all.

It is frustrating all round that is for sure. You have girls who are seniors playing against 7th graders.

Even at the highest levels a 15lb difference in girls completely changes everything. Combined age group practices does little for the older players and risks injury for the younger ones. I would prefer to not have combined practices until the kids are 16+. L

Maybe if u have a large pool of on age players then that makes sense. At clubs with smaller player pools from which to select, a number of younger players are stronger then the older ones.

And I write that from the perspective of an older player. Player just wants to play with strongest talent.

Pretty sure that combined practices once a week help the younger players, you can tell they are motivated, which is the point. Every academy club does this, if your’s does not, well then you’re not a legit GDA club, and my kid is a senior.

Well if the younger player is the stronger player, I fail to see how it does not help to challenge the older player if they must compete against a better player.

Those are few and far between, there are 2-3 girls that can compete against the oldest team, the others are overmatched, which is fine as long as its once a week.

Yet skilled HS players can make varsity teams as freshmen, regardless of size, and skilled college players are impact players as freshmen.

Better run BDA teams play their better players up all the time; either on the combined age teams or even up another bracket. They want their top talent challenged. The combined age teams is one of the few things that's right about DA. Maybe up until 15 have it split, but from 15+ it should be combined 2 years at a time. DA is supposed to be the top league. not "there's a place for everyone"

world Class has a 7th grader on one of their ECNL teams who made 2nd team all state. She would be a player who would be able to handle the physicality of a senior. However, I have seen some of the 05’s on the NYCFC team going up against the seniors, they are so tiny and get knocked all over the field. They would be better suited playing a boys team a year younger than them than play full grown women

Please dont start with the boys team thing. 05 maybe even 04 and younger who cares. Girls can dominate a younger boys teams and can be a waste of the girls time. Have them compete boys or girls their own age until later teens.

BDA teams have ben dealing with this for years with no ill effects. The disparity of when boys go through puberty is much broader with boys vs girls, with many boys having growth spurts well into their later high school years. Girls essentially stop growing two years from their first period, which is usually between 12-13.

when soccer is brawn and not brains, then many of these comments above hold true. Question is why would an 05 with a soccer IQ get into a physical battle with an 01?

GDA should be ONE team per club. No age restrictions. the rest should all play in whatever other leagues the Club enters. if you have 23 players capable of playing at the GDA "level" you should apply every year to the USSF , get audited and accepted into the league for that year.Application should be open to ANY club that can meet the criteria.
