I think you're mixing apples and oranges. NYSCE are girls teams and having their girls teams migrate over to Surf has nothing to do with inflating the boys side footprint.

The boys side will never get that large because FCW and NYSC are already short on top quality players and the county simply doesn't have enough USDA quality players who are interested in playing soccer 4 or 5 times a week. I would think that LI has many, many, many more such boys and families and at this point zero USDA clubs (and by LI I mean west of the NYC boroughs).

Doesn't anyone find it disappointing that SB soccer club has jumped on the LM NY surf bandwagon. Is joining BOTN mentality really where LI soccer is heading??When they go low I though one should go high?? What happened? Seems they have become what they criticized previously.

The thing that gets LI soccer in trouble is chasing the next best thing. This is what is happening with Surf. A fool and its money is soon parted.

Some Stony Brook parents upset over the changes haven't made their October 1st club payments. And when they got a threatening e-mail from the club late last week that their kids passes were going to be pulled a few of them quit. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of these teams aren't back in the spring.

Seem to be an awful lot of SB teams looking for players today.

Parents got the warning below last week and now this week we see nine Stony Brook teams on the BOTN tryout forum asking for players. I can't speak for all of these teams but the two teams my kids are on do have parents admitting that they were holding off on these payments due to the uncertainty of the switchover to Surf.

                Dear Players & Parents,

I hope you are well. I am sorry to be writing this note, but if you are receiving this, I really need your help in getting this resolved so that we are not having any players miss matches & practices or teams being forced to forfeit games or miss tournaments because of a lack of numbers. I do not normally get involved on the payments or registration side of things, however given the amount of players and teams this affects, felt that I needed to reach out to everyone so that normal service could resume and we could move forward positively.

I have been contacted by the Registration personnel of the club and have been asked to remove the passes of any of the players in arrears of their payments. Like any business or organization, the club has bills and financial obligations it also has to meet and staff that have to be paid.

Despite several notices going out, people are not responding to these requests, so therefore and regrettably, have been given no alternative but to withdraw the passes, and not allow those players to play or train until these payments are met. This is not meant to be mean-spirited, and the club is and wants to be as supportive as it can be, but we really cannot address it any other way, so please take this as me trying to help get this taken care of before it affects anyone negatively.

As the Director of Coaching, I have asked for and kindly been given a final special concession and extension for this weekend only to allow the players to play, because we want to get this solved and give families a day or so to get up to date with their dues, but as of Monday this comes into effect, and at that point it is out of my hands. So I am strongly urging those who have yet to make their next payment, to please do so this weekend, as I will have an updated report sent to me Monday morning about who is caught up and will need to notify coaches of who will not be available for practices or games. Ideally that is not an note I want to send to anyone, so am confident you can understand the urgency of this. As I am sure we can all agree, the last people we want affected are the players.

Payments can be made immediately through www.stonybrooksoccer.com through the registration area. All major credit cards are accepted, so please take advantage of this.

Any questions, please let me know, or contact club registrar Mike Brunken at mike.brunken@verizon.net

                Thanks,
                Mark

My kids age group was $1,438 total to the club. I paid for my kids up front but there was an option to pay in three installments. The October 1st installment was $394. Add anywhere from $1,000 to $7,000 more for the year depending on the team for tournament costs and other extra's you might sign up for.

One of the many things that is bothering parents is finding out that the former KK/ISA teams and HBC Impact are becoming the top Suffolk Surf girls teams in the G00-G02 age groups. Nobody wants to spend that kind of money to be on the B and C teams.

Is the new teams coming in happening now mid year, or next fall?

But that's not the case. Yes there are other teams but they are all equal and are entered into brackets based upon the individual team ability. As many know, Surf miscalculated some of the teams placement this year. But just because there are other G00-02 teams in Westchester, Nassau etc doesn't make one better than the other. It's about development of that team and that should be the best players from that area. Go to the SB/Surf meeting to understand the philosophy and I think you will feel much better.

SBSC wins big time here and Nash is a genius - we are very happy with the affiliation. You should attend the upcoming meeting vs blindly criticizing SBSC here.

No need to engage Nelly here - agreed stony brook integrating surf's curriculum, trainers, Surf guest play experiences, and programming can enhance the club's development experience - that's obvious.
