Hypothetically:
5 Westchester teams x 16 kids x $2950 each = $236,000
5 LI teams x 16 kids x $2450 = $196,000

Surf seems to be well within the norm for the area, although I agree the difference in pricing across the metro area doesn't make sense. How can it cost $500 per player more to train teams? If a team has to pay $10K (20 players x $500) for a winter training then I'm going to invest in indoor facilities TODAY :)

Larry's not shaking his Surf pompons anymore. Didn't announce the 2nd Surf college coach hire. Guess they aren't sexy enough for Larry.

I think there were a few days last week where we had more posts here than BOTN!
Eric, add a NY tryout board and watch everyone run from BOTN!

Looks like LM is letting Surf parents fend for themselves and not stepping in with his rah rah "Let's Go Surf" posts.

How can he? With the exception of two formally top teams that moved there every team they have fielded has been a disaster typically coming in dead last in tournaments to rec teams sometimes having a double digit negative goal differential!

I'm not LM lol. I just think it's absurd to expect outstanding results this early from anybody, including existing teams because most were blown up with the age change

However, Matt and Larry put a big bullseye on the clubs back with the never ending hype about Surf. The hype machine touted that they were a shoe in for GDA. They had college coaching etc.
It was really unprecedented as most clubs start quietly and build from a base. They have no one to blame but themselves.
The club isn't in the grave by any stretch. However in my opinion the blew their launch and have a bigger hole to climb out of

Plus they made the mistake of antagonizing the local town clubs and the WYSL itself. LM does it all the time, sort of like the Donald, but the club president should have known better than to try an cannibalize the town travel teams and monopolize the few good fields.
My prediction? NY Surf will just be LI Surf in a year's time ... the LI parents seem to accept anything you throw at them.
After NY Surf was rejected as a club by the WYSL they moved to the fledgling WYSL PREMIER league where, I think, they have one team registered under, and get this, the name MANHATTAN Surf. What a fiasco.

Just saw the funniest thing on BOTN. LM must be posting as an "anonymous poster"
Anon: Oh Larry, you tease us again! blush Hope it's good stuff for us!
LM: I only do good stuff :) It isnt a tease...you asked and I answered as best I could at this time....I can say it involves ECNL, GDA, Fields, and most importantly the NY Surf Cup next Spring or Summer.
Anon: you, as a parent it makes us feel that much better about putting our confidence in Surf's leadership.
ME:LMAO
