Sure there's some politics etc in DA, but at that level it's not nearly the same as at the lower levels. His dad would only carry him so far if he didn't have the skills. Even sadder that a young man gets slammed on a website dominated by adults. -
Every club has politics: DA, ECNL, rec, travel, premier, select. All have it in one shape or form.

Hofstra and St. John's coaches don't have the time. Know them both. Great people. Their focus is the players first. They will also do camps on the side. Plus, I doubt the AD at either school would allow it.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment

You've nailed the issue - D1 coaches don't have the time to coach youth teams, certainly not for the fall. Almost all college coaches at any level will have trouble with a 10 month GDA gig. Fall is their season and their jobs depend upon it. Then there's recruiting once the season wraps up and their teams still have (some) practices and games. That's why ECNL has a lot of college coaches- it works for them. Having those college coaches is a big asset and one which will probably stay with ECNL, not move to GDA.Originally posted by Unregistered View Post

A couple of years ago there was talk of extending the college soccer season to both fall and spring. I think the men's side were the ones who wanted this. I wonder if this change will be revisited with the advent of the GDA. Switching to full year might change who coaches the GDAs.Comment

I'm surprised Surf doesn't have teams in all age brackets given its in Westchester and LI. I thought they were "Surf," regardless of geography.
I was thinking about girls. About Larry's comments about Surf being NPL. Many top
teams who are not ECNL are NPL. Surf on the girls side couldn't get into ECNL this year so I just assumed NPL.
Elevating that boys team made me laugh. Should any of us really be surprised at the straw grasping?
Surf must have over anticipated the number of players/teams/clubs that would want to hop over to Surf. Or they over-hyped and aren't delivering .... at least this year.
