NY Surf just formed this year so they have not filed their 990s yet.

But the above speaks to SD Surf's "endowment" and "scholarships." Haven't looks at the actual filed tax returns but stuff like that should be listed somewhere.

Is Surf NY a separate non profit or all under the Surf umbrella? I would think they'd keep it under one roof so they can move funds around without outsiders being able to see how much goes to each branch. 990s don't require a lot of detail at that level.

If Surf were to get a GDA, they would have to make up a lot of ground quickly. There are some heavy guns out there. They would have to draw the best of the best and pray the girls gel fast enough to be competitive.

I noticed Chicago got a second GDA via Eclipse (happy to see they weren't a founding member as Rory is a complete tool!!!) and they and Sockers FC are both on the west side of Chicago (one in Cubs territory and the other more Sox). Eclipse has "directional branches" but their home is Oak Brook. I can't see them having one DA team over at the North branch, another at the East (Oak Brook), etc like NY Surf seems to be suggesting with their teams.

They are about 45 minutes apart. EM is what 15-20 minutes from Adelphi? I can't see Surf getting a DA.

Surf should be further along after 18 months of planning. Girls and Boys DOCs should have been determined ahead of time. The imported coaches they said they were bringing to Westchester should have been here by now and up and running.

Frankly, if Surf expects a GDAP then they should be preparing their players for higher level soccer NOW and not entering a team in a lower level bracket at a low level tournament (CJI). That team should be going to Surf Cup with the other WSC team.

There may have been months of negotiation with SD Surf. If it was truly planning you are spot on that they should be further along.

It sounds like Surf was built around the GDA application. But having several college fields scattered over Westchester, northern NYC, and LI doesn't make sense in reality. Plus one college coach is not coaching girls of recruitable age (or near recruitable like U13 or U14).

Surf's home base is LI but they only have full teams in all age brackets in Westchester.

It seems haphazard and misguided.
