If you read BOTN it looks like Surf NY has outsourced the finding of feeder clubs to BOTN. Hence their silly defense of everything. Some person said "hey it'll be hard for a single coach to handle 3 teams" and the response from BOTN was basically "Don't be a jerk. That is OLD news ... if you only knew what I knew." And yet those 2 coaches were announced on the surf website earlier that same day. So how could that be old news ?

But how can you buy yourself into a better league? The best they could hope for would be do decently in D2 of NYCSL PL and they would probably have a poor record there. A new team would get crushed in EDP. I can't see how a new club would be let into any NPL but there, perhaps, you can talk your way in.

If I am Surf I am not fielding teams on LI. To much change, crazy parents, winning at all costs, etc. I would stay in Westchester or maybe Brooklyn/Queens. I can see them succeeded in those areas. Will be extremely tough on LI. And not winning early on LI will lead to an early demise.

You have to wonder about high level Suffolk kids flocking to teams that have no announced coaches, no announced DoC, no fields or facilities and zero history. That's a tremendous leap of faith but I guess LI is known for it's nutty parents with money.

There is a lot of disfunction out there. I'm sure some figure it can't be worse than wherever they're at now. Who they get will also be telling. Most likely top players in good situations won't leave their current clubs. Surf is more likely to get those dissatisfied (incredulous parents who can't believe the current coach can't see how good little Mikey is) or looking to make a jump up from their current level. Some will be good players some will not be. Good luck to Surf operating out there - I get knots in my stomach going out there for games. We never know how parents will act. I don't know how anyone has the steel to be a ref there.

I am still trying to figure out where the heck the Surf are playing. They seem to be all over. Can anyone help with this?

There are plenty of dedicated low drama soccer families as well. Plenty of parents try to avoid or calmly tolerate the high drama parents and just pursue an enjoyable and productive experience with this great sport.

I have to agree that there are both types. I'm a Westchester parent and we've played Long Island teams in State Cup and NYCSL competitions. Mostly they are fine and personable enough. Perhaps it's because we're from westchester and don't have any historical rivalries. And perhaps it's just the crazies that go on and on on BOTN that taint everyone's opinions of LI soccer parents.

I know this BotN Larry thing is going on a few threads but I don't trust that guy at all. In fact my kid did not try out for Surf because of him. He hurts their status here in NY.

We weren't going anyway but his endorsement does zero for us

                        Surf has competition

Staten Island United is now Cedar Stars Staten Island and will have a girls DA. BOTN missed that one big time. Too blinded by Surf?

LM is so tied to success of NY Surf I would love to see how he explains this issue away when they are left out. They have a long way to go BF even being considered. LI will only have one GDA, I could definitely see SI or Brooklyn having one too. If it is infant CSSI when then congrats and all the best.

Are you kidding me LM would never advertise anything other than what "HE" feels need to be told. I tell you this Surf is not getting ECNL and they are not getting GDA so all hype that he is displaying is to keep people in tune to what he is saying and having people keep coming back for more. Larry even has said it in his last post about SURF is that he supports the one that have a interest in BOTN and that's why he would never let me post on that site again because he knows that I know information that slaps him in the face and he can't handle that. Surf is a very good club but just because you have Surf by your name doesn't grant you access into any league you want. NY Surf is a satellite location for San Diego Surf. Just think of all the dates that LM have posted about information to be given about DOC's and league information...............Hasn't those dates past and why no information......that is very simple he has no clue he is going on information that he hears from this person and that person and I assume they he calls them up and swears that people listen to him and will follow his word and maybe they brought it in the beginning but since have seen how toxic that he can be and how sour he is turning people against NY Surf that now they will limit the information he knows and only tell him what he needs to know which is just the what we all know and that's nothing lol lol so people can keep on believing or listening to what he has to say and I will sit back and keep laughing. Mind you I will cut and paste this same dialogue and see if he allows this.

                              Ecnl

This year's incoming ECNL has already been announced. I can see next year for girls and buys NY Surf but not this year.

Besides, don't you have to have something like FIELDS to get in?

No you don't, just a stable field situation. Coaches and teams with actual records in actual competitive leagues would be nice though.
