But why east meadow? What is their connection to any professional or even semi- professional woman's soccer organization? Where is their first team for these pro DA players to strive to play with?

Where Is there is any type of criteria that says a GDA club has to be linked to a pro or semi pro team? If so the league is destined to fail

That puts both EM and Alby in same boat. Alby is having obvious issues on boys side and rumored to be out. Alby does have PR, but ask the parents at Alby and he is never there. They also have field issues. You can say well they produced Crystal Dunn, but they only had her in HS. She was trained for about 8 years by EM DOC before that. On the EM side, I don't think they are a great choice initially either. They do have their own fields,which is huge, but is their coaching staff deep enough. I don't think so. My guess is GDA skips over LI initially. A club will get added by year 3-4 and then we will see. My question is will both apply for GDA? I'm almost certain Alby will, but I have my doubts that EM will.

Alby tried recruiting trainer from EM with no luck. Alby banking on Riley relationship, but he is never around and people he left club in trust, have unfortunately ran club down. Shame. New NY Surf trying to recruit from Queens and Nassau. Very tough sell though being in Westchester. Another late rumor is Redbulls running GDA in NJ and LI. Like an east and a west. That has to be a rumor. Would seem like a real stretch, although, they already have strong presence in both LI and NJ with girls due to their RDS. The success on their boys side would probably give them clout if they desired this.

Red bulls would have two academies or one academy with two branches? That would be an interesting idea ... Call them the Red Cows?

Admittedly an outsider but IMO Redbulls youth programs very well done and professional, but they are all about the boys. Programs for girls are quality but seriously pale in comparison to their focus on the boys.

They have the RDS program in different areas. Very well run training and are very talented in every group. They have select teams for tournaments from each location. But, as currently constituted, it is only a supplemental training series. But, very good.

Thanks for the update. It would be interesting if they fielded a free GDA program. I think that program needs a marquee name or two to make a splash.

So SUSA won't get GDA. Big, but that's it. Alby out. EM prob has the best shot. Who else has a shot? Can't see Cosmos getting involved. Surf will be based in Westchester. Unless EM screws this up, which could very well happen, they will probably have best shot.

Is the new Surf NY club a serious contender for a girl's DA? I see that the original club and the affiliate in Hawaii seem very successful but why would us soccer give a DA to a brand new venture over some established entity? Posting with no agenda other than complete outsider trying to understand this.

I agree with both posts above.

Unless there is a wildcard, I believe the DA will go to EM. They also have thee girls on national teams, own their own fields, have credited coaches. They may have to affiliate with another program to add to their pool, although they may already be big enough.

As far as NY Surf goes, they will really have to get off to a great start in years one and two to be considered for DA down the road. Not happening year one. Plus, there will be other clubs with GDA close to them.

With presumed loss of BDA Alby out of picture for GDA.
