Don't believe Cosmos will pursue GDA. They were just approved for a younger BDA that will launch in the fall, I believe. They also are in the process of finding and building a new stadium. They just do not have the time, fields, resources at this time to pursue this. It is definitely possible in a few years after things settle. But, who knows what will happen then.
Locally, there are a couple of boys programs that definitely will not get a GDA (Met Oval and BWG). Alby will get one, probably, although there is talk of Riley leaving Alby and starting new (rumor is FC Porto) and get fields out in Suffolk County. Rumor also has it that the boys side of Alby is losing there USSDA status. They currently have no owned fields and fields are always an issue, with ECNL too. Whole Alby thing is in chaos right now. EMSC has ECNL and may also get the GDA. I'm sure they will apply. They own two fields. Who would the other option be?
Ideally someone in Brooklyn or Queens, but who? NYCFC could, but they prob won't land in this area. With the population of Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island being about 7-8 million people, you will need at least three GDA teams. But who knows.
Any thoughts? Any details to add?

There won't be three teams in that geography. The teams in the NYC area will be RedBulls, NYCFC, WC (maybe) EMSC (maybe) and wherever Paul Riley lands. Girls from Brooklyn and Queens who want to go DA will have no problem finding a club. They may have to travel a little, but they will find a spot.
I also feel that ECNL will still be quite strong and maybe even better than the DA. There are many high schools with very loyal kids want to play HS soccer. DA just won't be an option for them. GDA has a real chance to be a big flop. US Soccer has already proved they have been a disaster. They just can't get it right.

Don't see the girls USSDA being large when they roll this out. Wont be close to the 79 teams that ECNL has. With that said I see 3 total teams in metro NY area. Definitely not enough, but this is probably how they start out. The question begs how much travel will this become. On the boys side not much because there are so many teams in a driving proximity. Girls side will be different to start. Teams will be added as it progresses.

RR? No shot! They are just a training program and one that has severely deteriorated over the last couple years. Unless you are absolutely awful you will make that team. Many drop out due to training days and times being inconsistent. It's ok if you are on a town team. Aside of that there is much better supplemental training to be found....and cheaper.

They are not selective but they have been in business a long time and I though they had semi pro teams.

Their coaches that only work for them don't have close to the credentials needed. They don't own fields either. They rent. Their application goes right in the garbage (won't even waste time putting it in the shredder) when received.

The cosmos has an almost non-existent youth program that has only existed for a number of months, not years. Not only should there have been no talk of them having a GDA program, they shouldn't even have been granted their boys U12 program.
