    GA getting desperate

Just saw on their FB page they added DUSC to league play? Is GA just letting anyone in now? It’s an PITA to get to their fields and it’s surrounded by trash. It’s gross. Someone explain the reason they would add a team that has zero chance of winning any games in this league with no proven track record?

DUSC is where NWSL Gotham plays their 2nd teams.

GA added DUSC likely because they want everything in place when NWSL Next is rolled out.

Do you think that GA would be used for a NWSL next? Not super familiar with NWSL or its member, but it seems ECNL would be better suited since they have more members with NWSL teams(NC Courage, Portland Thorns, Racing Louisville and Utah Royals) vs GA(Gotham, and Seattle Reign); and ECNL more broadly being a stronger league.

DUSC is now in NAL and are pretty average. In that league is NJ Premier winning almost everything. Would have been a great choice.

The most likely outcome for NWSL and Acadamies is to just copy everything MLS has implemented in MLS Next.

This means running NWSL Next through US Soccer (not ECNL).

NWSL will want to own/control NWSL Next not be a partner with ECNL.

GA is all politics. That’s why it will fail.

And this sort of club is making the GA stronger? Give me a break!

USSF already experimented and got out of that game and there is no economy for NWSL where running academies, nevermind a full league, makes financial sense. Think beyond what you wish would happen.

ECNL was always known for clubs protecting their business. GA is doing now the same thing. Leaving competitive clubs like New England Surf and NJ Premier out while letting in clubs that are not a threat.

You are delusional. We are years away from NWSL clubs running academies, if ever. The math barely works for the MLS pro clubs and they do it more because the league requires them to. If geography wasn't a barrier they would run their own league with 1/3 the number of players. If NWSL wanted to dip their toes in the water some day, they'd partner with the better league, which is ECNL. Partnering with GA brings them nothing.
