It doesn't attract the same amount or level of coaches that an ECNL or even GA event does, but if the team is in the top 3-4 brackets-they'll usually get a good showing. If the team is USYS or EDP, this and maybe a couple others are their only showcasing opportunities and coaches won't really roll into their weekly league games like they do in other leagues.
It’s not bad exposure. Less than ECNL but certainly better than GA so worth attending as there are lots of coaches there.

If you’re not getting the exposure via your league you have to go to events like Jeff Cup.

come on. these types of statements are ridiculous and make us (ecnl people) look paranoid and silly. GA does a pretty decent job getting kids looks and i am glad for it. If my kids ECNL team goes belly up, i'd be glad to consider GA rather than have to schlep 90 minutes to another ecnl club.

Of course evyerone has to pick the best based on what has the best coaching and is workable for them. Some ECNL clubs aren't very good, same with GAL.

Jeff Cup has very good exposure for a non ECNL/GAL/MLS event. If you're not in one of those leagues you want to be at Jeff Cup. It will get some D1 programs, few "top" programs" but it leans more heavily D2 and D3. That's a great place to play for many players that aren't in the top leagues.

Once you taste the Jeff Cup, you’ll never want to leave.

Only matters if : [1] Your players invited specific coaches to come to specific games, [2] Those coaches confirmed an interest in coming to the game, and [3] Your game is being played at a location without a conflict for the coach. The idea that college coaches arbitrarily show up at a game an ID your player is incredibly naive.

It's not as naive as you think, plenty of kids get unsolicited interest from schools that they never reached out to. Mine did and once all was said and done, 4 of her top 5 choices (including the one she committed to), were schools that initiated the conversation. I wouldn't advise heading to any tournament without having reached out to anyone, but unsolicited interest is a lot more common than people think.

Unsolicited interest happens but it's almost always when the coach is at the field to see another player and notices you also. With their busy schedules they're not stopping and watching random games/window shopping. Don't count on unsolicited interest as your game plan. Target a big list then post-event you assess who showed up and more importantly who reaches out.

Why are there hardly any results from the Jefferson cup on their website? Was there a washout this weekend down in VA?

Yeah because forecasting the weather months in advance is so easy.

Some clubs got 1 or 2 games in yesterday, but a lot of money spent by all for nothing. It can always be worse some had none. I feel for the families that traveled from Az and Texas.

Did you at least play soccer in the hotel hallway?

Major tournaments should be scheduled when weather is at least a little more reliable.
