I can say for sure that two of my kids have played at high-level (USYS Premier 1) teams and keepers were NOT flocking anywhere and were especially hard to find at the younger age group.

"Have played" how long ago are you talking? There seem to be more keepers in today's game then before. My kids play as well; one is a gk.

Are there not different levels of soccer at every age group? You're not suggesting that the level of skill is the same at EDP Premier 1 as it is in MOSA National 6, are you? And, just like any position on the field, you need a goalie that is at the level that can handle playing at that level. No one is suggesting the level of play at U12 is the same as it is at U14 or U16 or U23, but your attempted condescension is just misinformed.
