Yeah, but those are coaches in American Football, not soccer.

Lay off all coaches make mistakes and I’m sure the club is handling accordingly anyway. It’s a physical game get over it.

Has Jim Lagarde owned up to, and apologized for, his mistake?

Agree, much to do about nothing. People with a personal agenda against the guy. So the team plays physical, big freaking deal. It’s not like he’s forcing the players to do stuff, they are independently acting.

I’ve never seen a more obvious example of someone quoting / responding to their own post here.

The guy has a terrible reputation in this area, and for good reason

The issue wasn’t with the physical play. It was with his “Welcome to the game” comment while the 15 year old was screaming in pain on the ground.

Issue should really be about both...if the games continue to be called allowing blatant fouls to never be called which gives an advantage ..then the natural progression is to push the envelope of what you can get away with...resulting in more broken noses..etc

My D has played at several levels up to ECNL and each year games are more physical with less and less advantage fouls being called and almost never any yellow cards....if you watch the boys games they are physical but the straight arms, elbows etc normally get called....
There is a difference between physical play and physical fouls...

People should really go back and read the thread. Because you are correct. The issue was never how physical it got (expect the for the hurt player). It was about the coach being so inappropriate with his comment.

                            100% this.

Jim Lagarde has a few defenders out there who are latching on to the whole “it’s a physics game, injuries happen!” angle.

                            Yes, we get it.

Jim Lagarde’s actions after are the main issue here.

“Welcome to the game” is completely inappropriate for an adult to say to a child (because let’s not forget we are talking about children here) who is on the field seriously injured.

I’m shocked and appalled by the accusations. And based on what I am hearing / reading these past couple weeks, this kind of behavior is only the tip of the iceberg with Jim Lagarde.
