How was the poster supposed to know you're a woman? Most clubs would welcome quality female coaches and look for them all the time. There just aren't many of them out there. It's a supply issue, not demand. You're making sexist accusations that rarely happen.

I think the facts are clear zero women coaches at the GA teams. And there should be at least one or two qualified women coaches that are in those positions. We’re not in 1980 anymore.

Take a look at other leagues. There aren't many out there and lack of female coaches isn't a GAL specific issue. Plus GAL is slipping into obscurity. If a female coach is any good she'll take the better opportunities over GAL every day of the week. There is no blanket sexism out there. It's not a very stable or well paying career path.

Maybe they will take corrective action for this upcoming season

if its not a very stable career path you would think that would hold true for Aamerican men as well but yet he they are.

So this analysis does not hold water.

That's one way to look at it. Another might be that women are just making a better career choice.

I was at wayside last night there were several woman CSA coaches.
Yes there should be more but that’s true of all clubs.

What an odd statement to make. I just came back from Florida and was impressed how many teams were coached by women. Enough so that it was noticed, and commented on by a few of us. It's an organization led by women, for women, and will continue to try to push the league away from the old boys' network that exists with it's competition. Great for our girls to have that as an option.

I believe the poster is talking specifically about CSA failing to have women coaching any of their GA teams

Yeah you can use that excuse for all corporations. women are'nt in banking, because they are making a better career choice, women are'nt referrees because they are making a better career choice, women are'nt CEO's of companies because they are making a better career choice. women get paid less then men for the same job, because they are making better career choices.

Sounds like an excuse to me to dismiss what has always been in this nation. Old boys club and a glass ceiling.

How many women coaches are there at the local ECNL clubs? Would be good to have the comparison. Or everyone is just mad the CSA made a proactive statement and didn’t immediately replace coaches with females? Im trying to understand why such a statement is so upsetting.

My daughters are not at ECNL clubs so I'm not sure why that is a question you raise in response to my clarification post. I've been following this thread because I have younger daughters who would benefit from having female coaches.

                            USWNT - 3 female coaches since 1985
                            NWSL - 10 teams - 1 female coach

There have been a lot of great US born women players to come through the system since women's soccer exploded when Brandi Chastain scored on that famous penalty kick in 1999. Why hasn't this translated into more women coaches as their careers have ended? Does the grind of coaching interfere with motherhood or raising families? Are the salaries too low because the women's game doesn't bring in a lot of revenue so the coaches don't get paid a lot? I do think the idea of pointing out that CSA or any other youth club doesn't have a lot or any female coaches is trivial compared to the larger picture of why isn't there a lot women coaches in our national and professional ranks?

So your daughters play at CSA in GA and would prefer a female coach? There are female coaches for the younger ages, so I’m assuming you mean only GA?

different poster - sure girls benefit from having strong female role models, but role models don't need to be coaches. They also benefit from having a good coach, period, doesn't matter the gender. Having had two daughters in multiple sports they've had very few female coaches. One was terrible but they've had bad male coaches too. I don't think this is an issue especially unique to girls soccer. It's taken literally decades for women to crash corporate and political glass ceilings and there's still a long way to go.
