You are effectively giving out misinformation to support your rational.

You become part of the problem
Harvard study might disagree with you:

Basically says that closing of the bad schools and re-allocating those students to better schools had more to do with the improvement than the actual investment of the money. Admittedly, Zuckerberg's money did result in Newark teachers getting paid more, so that was good. But that amount of money should have resulted in a far greater and tangible transformation of the education system in Newark than it actually did.

Great example of people choosing their information to support their own bias. The net is full of such examples.

one thing we can all agree on, is that money and effort is needed, and it should be efficiently utilized. " Lets not let the perfect be the enemy of the good"

Agree. But also acknowledge that power, corruption and self-interest is a huge obstacle in moving on causes for equitable treatment.

Always. Even amongst one's own people.

Having grown up in a bigger city and having been mugged several times , have a bike stolen while riding it, and having a home ransacked, been stopped by police dozens of times (because I was driving thru a high crime known drug area to get to school) ...I can tell you that there are lot of hard working church going minorities that would agree about the police...they are the ones targeted the most and need the police the most. PAL and Boys Clubs help many....

Throwing cash at these big cities for decades doesn't work...give a hungry man a loaf of bread and he'll eat today ..but teach him to farm and he will eat for life.....1st and formost is education(school vouchers), good jobs, home ownership /clean safe places the live, and incentives for local business are what is needed....handouts are easy but only kick the can down the road.

Nice perspective from a person who is not black. I’m not Italian but I’m going tell you how I think the Italian community feels.

Agree that throwing cash at big cities doesn't solve anything. Neither does defunding the police. "Investing" doesn't just mean money...it means making the effort and using the resources to change the way things are done for the better.

A good way to start is to have the baby daddies stay in the picture.... in America, the greatest gift you can give to a child is to have two invlolved and loving parents. The government no matter how much money they throw at these schools and cities can’t make up for absentee fathers.

Agree that it would help in child development but that’s not the root of the problem. What is? I ask because I don’t know.

The problem is greed and the distribution of wealth with no accountability for those whom are wealthy. A CEO can ruin a company and still walk away with a "golden parachute" severance. Or, take for example of the CEO of a small tech company that was identified to be in the recent riot at the capitol. That CEO was "put on leave" and he issued an apology. Some of the others that were id'd were simply fired from their jobs. There is no solution. We live in a capitalist country. We can only hope to teach our children study hard, work hard, network with as many people as you can and maybe, if you're lucky, you'll succeed. But I'm still sure glad to be here rather than China, Russia, North Korea, or most any country.

Agreed, all bad things. But I don’t see those being the full reason for the deterioration of cities and the pervasive socioeconomic divide. If it were, taxes and money could fix the problem.

No black person refers to a group of people as minorities in this day and age. If you were black you would know that. Only the majority speaks like that.

Right, so then the question to ask is why do the baby's daddies leave? Is it because they are simply irresponsible? Or is it because they are scared because they don't think they can provide for the family? Or maybe because their ancestors' family units were destroyed and they have no sense or idea of the value of family staying together? Potentially lots of reasons, and many of them perfectly understandable if you really try to walk in their shoes. These are the core things that need to be addressed and changed, create a culture in our poor ethnic neighborhoods that is supportive of the family unit...and having law enforcement that is perceived to not protect you does not help.

The deterioration of cities and pervasive socioeconomic divide comes from an economic system that is tilted in favor of owners while minimizing workers. Rich get richer, poor get poorer. Everything in our society boils down to increasing shareholder value. The stock market growth over the last 50 years has far-outpaced wage growth, and technology is only going to make that worse.
