Speaking of nearly garbage...#Rutgers #153 national universities. CCSU even worse. But go ahead and brag to your families (who don't care) that your kid plays D1 soccer.

Why is the RU vs CSsu game keep coming up.
The better team was RU and they lost.
That happens in soccer a lot. You brag as if RU was outplayed.
Ccsu was crushed in shot and corners and just fouled all over field.
Late goal by ccsu and that’s all she wrote. Better program is not even debatable

NY lurker here. When our local GDA club was able to lure players away from the other local GDA club, they redesigned their entire website and blasted every social media platform with posed pictures of the kids (ala NLI signing day) to announce they had joined the club. Had the kids seated at a table with a club banner hanging, in their new uniforms, the club step and repeat behind them, pen in hand "signing" their new contract. They were 14 years old, lol.

Now that it's commitment time for that same age group, not a peep. Either they don't have any or don't want to draw attention to only having 1 or 2.

No one should be bragging about CCSU

I guarantee you the parents have more of a memory of this game than the players.

I don’t k is why you are dragging PDA into this. But since you did. PDA is the definition of kick and run soccer. Ugly soccer, which explains why they like RU so much.

I’m guessing you don’t actually know soccer very well?

Comparing Rutgers to CCSU is the equivalent of comparing ECNL to GAL....not even debatable is right.

Point was they weren't trained by bigger clubs or expensive academies. They were coached by a dad who's team would go on to have more future stars then any club in NJ...Even PDA Blue. 2x NWSL players and 1 in Superliga Femenina in Spain, 8 went on to play D1 some at some top schools all from 1 team. Sure some would play 2-3 years in HS with bigger clubs as well but those clubs didn't develop them into super stars. These women were already part of a township team that was winning on a national level. They were already part of YNTs.

Point was don't discount a daddy team or township team. Training and coach have more to do with youth then name or patch.

It’s a great story and this was a situation when the “stars aligned “ with a coach the players believed in and the loyalty and commitment of the players/parents. It rarely happens. It’s not a question of looking down or discounting a situation but rather this was not the norm and it worked for this particular group because of this particular special Coach. Cryer had the same situation with a group of players/parents and has made his living off that one group ever since.

I'm guessing you are a PDA parent, or worse, a PDA coach. It's OK - no need to be defensive. PDA does fill a need. It's just very ugly soccer for a club that attracts so much talent (and then wastes it by playing mindless big and fast soccer).

I won't get into the debate here with you. It's been widely (and wildly) debated in other threads. Go look at comments regarding the PDA-Barcelona game and you might understand, but I don't expect you to get it.

Agreed, and yet CCSU won the last game they played. Just goes to show its not the league and that on any given day players will decide the games.

Calling Rutgers to a top 5 program is a stretch. Not even the best program in their own conference.
