MF is known for the bait and switch
They bring girls over for ECNL then put them on the ECRL team
Also will bring in girls mid season for free and give them more playing time to get them to commit to next year
Typical soccer money grab
Lot of better options for development, DB sells the ECNL badge

Seems like more of a one-way street from everything I hear.
...earn a way up to ECNL, that is....

And here's the thing - if you're not happy because of big rosters and your kid not playing? Then just leave. If your kid isn't playing it's more because it's not a good fit for them. If it was a good fit they would be starting or at least first off the bench.

My D decided she wanted to be there and even turned down an offer from a local GDA team (friends on the GDA team told us we were crazy), but it was a great decision for her. Her team is very strong, she loves her teammates, her coach is wonderful and has been incredible helping her with recruiting and getting her opportunities to be "seen" in this crazy pandemic. So I guess it all depends on the club and what other options are available. For us, ECRL was the best option.

Said the likelihood of her moving onto the ECNL team was very minimal at best and if we weren't comfortable with ECRL we shouldn't take it, because they were treating the ECRL team as it's own entity and only wanted players that wanted to be there.

Suspect some kids / parents might choose ECRL because of the “mystique “ of saying you are from a certain club, even though that reputation has been earned by other teams at the club.
This fall, for instance, some of the parents of our HS team were in awe that we had 5 MF players on our varsity roster. Then the games started and the team and some of the MF players were ordinary. I later learned that 4 of the 5 played ECRL and at least one wasn’t even getting rostered regularly on that team. Don’t think some parents ever understood what was going on. Blamed the coach for a mediocre season. How can you have so many big club players and not be better?
