My wife sat in on a MF parent meeting shortly after Alliance was announced. Parents were told point blank EDP charged a lot in league fees and Alliance was going to be a more affordable option that clubs were putting together. Was supposed to be eventually for all the younger teams, but parents in at least one ECRL age group were told this would be a third league for them the next fall.

Think the club was shocked how few other clubs signed on, and especially how little interest there was beyond the youngest ages. Apparently not many clubs were as outraged by EDP fees, or didn’t carry so many kids on rosters that they needed yet another league alternative.

The fees are borne by families, and split across 18-20 families only makes a small difference in your total fees. It's a silly argument when there are bigger and more important differences between the options.

Allaince was an attempt by clubs like MF to profit from forming their own league..on girls side some age groups were almost all MF and MMF affiliated teams

Here is the deal on the Alliance league. It was started by the boys side of the clubs and had PDAs strong support. PDA did not support it on the girls side and when Covid hit that was the end of it for now. It was a great idea and cost the clubs less than what EDP does. Look at the Board of Directors, has some heavyweights in NJ Club soccer. Hope they resurrect it for the boys.

MFA goes to ECNL 30 player limits for ECNL/ECRL. That’s 60 players. And they typically roster 15 for a game. That’s 30 players sitting out. $3,000 per sitting player. That’s $90,000 stolen from sitting player parents each year from DB and JR from MFA.

You are correct, the bottom 20 of the 60 were sent down to Montclair United, MFA third team.

Those who were offered ECNL not told this during offer time. Even ECRL girls were offered ECNL to dazzled parents. Then they were put on Montclair United. For $3,000, non- refundable.

Not sure why you’re fixated on MFA this is common practice amongst many academies...as long as you the paying customer puts up with it. It will go on and on....

This was not our experience with D’s ECRL team. ECRL players had lower registration fee than ECNL players and rosters were usually 18 players or less.

Let’s just say the North Atlantic conference of ECNL is widely seen as the weakest of the ECNL conferences, therefore you can expect the North Atlantic ECRL to be pitiful. With clubs like bucks, delco and matchfit who’s top teams are horrible and finish at or near the bottom of the ECNL you can’t expect the RL competition or teams to be any good.

My advice run fast and far from the ECRL. The competition and level of play isn’t good, additionally most clubs treat the B teams as the ugly stepsisters who only exist to pad the coffers of the club. Don’t even think your kid will even be looked at or given a chance at the top team - it’s highly unlikely once a player is seen as a B player that’s what they will always be. Your kid would be far better off on the top team of an EDP club or GAL club - there is zero benefit to be on the second team at a club - especially when your expenses are the same as the top team.

Out right lie. Montclair is an affiliate and run as a completely separate club with different tryouts and different offers. Good riddance to you and your lies.

Total BS and more lies. North Atlantic is a very solid division, with one club that struggles and another that has gone through some changes. The others are Rock solid, with the strongest club in the country at the top. Don't listen to the lies. All these clubs will allow you to train for free this winter and see you what the level is like. Some real sour apples on this thread. If they are unhappy they should move on wherever they are.

You’re correct my friend, ECRL North Atlantic is one of the best divisions in the country, if anything better than many of the ECNL divisions.

Someone commented that if parents of 7/8th graders were given an informative presentation on the realities of college sports and scholarships half these "elite" leagues might disappear and they'd go back to just local competition/playing for fun and high school. Great analysis, spot on.
Perhaps the opportunity would still be there for the best of the best but all this nonsense with all the leagues y’all just love to talk about here (ECRL, ECNL, GAL, USYS etc) would just go away.

PDA and Penn Fusion are solid+. The rest are either inconsistent or below average. Admittedly don't know much about Pipeline.

Yes and yet no....those who do not make the ECRL teams are offered a spot on Montclair United by JR...even with no tryout for them and having MU never mentioned....
