GA has some good clubs with some good teams but lets not fool yourself that this is the second coming of youth soccer in America.
Wow what a terrible human right here . To think this person may have children

And to think they didn’t comprehend the sarcasm in prior post proves how dumb they are.

The problem with GA and the ECNL is very similar, it’s the parents. The GA now have learned their lesson and are not competing with ECNL they want to develop their own league and are not looking “over their shoulder” but rather to constantly improve heir league. It will be a work in progress. Parents are the ones who will continue to draw comparisons. Here is something I learned while both my girls played ECNL & GDA. Neither league made my girls better players. They were both identified by colleges because of their athleticism, speed and quickness. They also loved playing soccer and would go hit balls against walls for their “one touch” and use cones for their technical skill development. They would go and play “for fun” in the parks for pick up games and work on their moves. They looked online for “strength training and conditioning” that they did on their own. My point is that neither league defined my girls or their path to playing in college. Neither league or club/team will guarantee they will play in college. If you have to push them to go to practice or to do extra training then neither league will make a difference. The smart parents with “experience “ knows exactly what I am saying.

No you don’t, you think your the exception that your daughter putting on an ECNL/GA Jersey will magically give them “super powers”.

I'm sure your little princess is on the most incredible team in the history of the world. Her whole team probably has colleges scouting them already at 11 because they are so amazing. Your an ass, please share with us the name of this most amazing team that your little Alex Morgan is playing on. The GA sucks, USYS sucks, EDP sucks... I guess the only team that matters is the one your kid is on. Must be a great feeling that you can tell how the GA is going to turn out after just one week. Your probably that fat ******* parent that never played a day of soccer, pushing your kid beyond her limits, on a team that's probably beating everyone 24-0 and then brag about how amazing they are and how everyone else.sucks....

Settle down Beavis, but you do have a point. A lot of people come on here and "tell it like it is" like they are some kind of youth soccer expert. I'd put money on that the majority of posters are soccer moms and dads that don't really know about anything except their own personal experiences. There is nothing wrong with that, but trying to speak from a position of authority is kind of laughable when you phase things in that context. On the other side, people are talking about their own experiences sometimes so maybe give them the benefit of the doubt. If I come on here and say xyz team played abc team and it was terrible, well then that's my opinion.

On to GA, I think everyone should just be honest with themselves about the situation. On the whole, it seems like a bad deal long-term. There are a lot of negatives (which have already been mentioned here) that can't be easily dismissed, but there are redeeming qualities (especially on a per-team basis). I think everyone should just settle down and see what happens. Let's wait until try out season and see how everything looks then.

GA teams will still have some excellent players, many of whom would make ECNL teams easily. The thing is we will never get 100% consolidation. Many kids who are top 5 on a current GA or NL team will not risk going to the ECNL teams to be player 11 or worse, not starting. That is a valid worry. Going to a team and going from playing 80%+ to playing 15 minutes is not fun.

100% true. There aren't enough starting spaces on ECNL teams to go around and also there are situations where a GA club is much closer than an ECNL club so the weekly travel makes it a non-starter (or less of a draw). I'm sure there is still some talent left on GA teams and that will certainly continue.

I have no idea what you're babbling about. I'm no fan of ECNL and was actually rooting for DA, but that failed and GAL isn't going to make it - it's a shell of the DA. There is not enough talent to have two "ELITE" leagues, at least not around here.

My D is GA and who is one of the top players on her team who plays the whole game. The ECNL options in NJ are PDA and MY (and I dont consider MF an option) Traveling over an hour to PDA to be on a roster of 25 is just not worth it. She is getting great training within the club and outside training. At this point I am hoping I can get her exposure by either going to College ID camps and maybe GA Showcases. If the end result is she gets to college of her choice as well as becoming a solid player, I don't care what league she is in. Yes I do have some concerns but that is our plan.

Same person asking people to out their clubs so he can "figure out" who they are. That is sad and pathetic.
