Not worth all the intentional Stress & pressure coaches place on the young ones. I heard csa and pda are a mess this year. Won’t be going back, will look for high level local teams that are invested with their players.

Do you mind sharing some of the teams you are looking at? We are having a hard time finding a quality team for our son that is not ECNL or MLS next and still pretty high level and the coach isn’t only out for $.

our experience was MLS was not worth it at U13. Lots of travel and 1/3 of the teams stink. It would be better if the teams still went to tournaments. Also the no re-entry per half rule is dumb for a development standpoint at u13/u14. It would be great if they went to 1-2 more tournaments, changed the substitution rule and stopped expanding and cut the bottom third out.

ECNL has the same rule…. Trying to be professionals, lol

Not really and most 2011 teams are still training 3 x per week. With 18 kids on game roster most kids are playing 40 mins or less per game not a lot of load there unless they are the attackers sprinting after punts.

Since MLS Next rosters are so massive, do their 4x per week training programs in reality have the equivalent touches per player of a 2X per week training program, but just with more time in the car driving to/from practice?

ECNL doesn’t allow guest players. There are roster freeze dates stated clearly in their rules. That player is a registered member of the team and appears on the roster. They have been registered with them since before the roster freeze date of May 1st and their name has been on their pubic rosters that everyone could see. How are players allowed to be carded to an ECNL and MLS team at the same time is a different question, but there is no guest playing.

You have a window to put them on your roster but then the ECNL club only uses them for playoffs no games. It sucks….
Two teams in the 2011 group had MLS Nex players in their roster. Look at Pipeline…. Union kids and now they are in the fines. Not fair for the kids sitting on the bench.

It’s a Union kid…. And he is! You can even check out his social media page. He’s with the unions and his guest plan because he is also on the roster for pipeline. Other coaches with ECNL teams have decided not to do this. Because they’re being fair.
