What facility does FA have that meets MLS Next requirements?

Florham Park sports dome is 1 field indoors that isn’t large enough with no recording. Also, they just rent it out. No chance they would get the full field for a full slate of games on a Saturday and Sunday to host all the MLS age groups.

Pingry short hills is 1 small turf and below average grass. No lights. Not sure if the field is correct size either. I doubt it.

Kantor memorial park is nice. Not large enough for mls next requirements for u15-19 games. It is large enough for u13-14.

u13-19 all need to be at the same facility in the same day. FA needs facilities. They dont have any.

Ironbound has multiple locations that meet the requirements.

as far as staff and correct licenses, I’m not sure. FA doesn’t have a large staff. they are all very good, but I think they would need to add 3-4 more coaches with the correct license to have enough to cover all the teams. It can’t be 2 coaches running every team.

Facilities & Training


Field Standards for Matches:

• Expectations for MLS NEXT clubs to provide appropriate, high quality fields to host MLS NEXT matches
• Minimum Field Sizes:
  • U13 & U14 = Minimum of 64x105
  • U15 & Older = Minimum of 70x110
• Any fields outside of these standards, must be approved by MLS NEXT staff before the season

The location certainly doesn't help, I think they have to just accept that they are a development club for the local MLSnext club ie. RB to recruit from. It happens wherever there is an MLS team... same goes with NJ Premier and PDA in Somerset. PDA is loaded with the players from the surrounding clubs. FA hasn't shown they are anything special except they have produced a couple very good teams, but that can apply to many clubs. They way it is, those 2010/2011 boys should move on if they are that serious about pursuing soccer/want better competition.

How about the fact that Ironbound has a 30 year history of developing players, being a stable run club in a hotbed of talent. Access and main tenants at half a dozen of turf facilities in the city. Successful track record of partnering with Red Bulls at multiple age levels (Rec, Travel, Academy, USL Two).

FA is brand new in the scheme of things, who can guarantee their long term stability?

What player from ironbound has been developed and made it...can't say John Tolkien...go

Define “made it” ISC has a long list of collegiate and top HS players not to mention a large group of players that went to RBA.

On the flip side, outside of 2 players from FA that made RBA, name a player who player on any significant HS team…go.

Is that the standard? High school soccer? I hope not. The truth is ironbound has not done that much, not produced much talent either but they are willing to do whatever red bull says...if you do that then you make it to mlsnext or so it seems

Club history is very subjective...hasn't FA had a better history in say the last 5 years or however long they have been a club than Ironbound? And shouldn't most recent history be most important?

Since this is 2011 thread, are you referring to the 2011 Black team? They haven't even started u13 yet. Basically everyone in NJ soccer knows that as soon as the coach gets a better job offer that entire club collapses. Why would the MLS or any other league take on that headache.
