Definitely not. The higher level clubs will not allow it. Lower quality players, lower quality fields, lower quality training with a high likelihood of injury due to not only overuse and bad fields but also kids just hacking away and being rash with challenges and being frustrated / late. nothing good can come out of middle school soccer if your son plays on a higher level team already. I have heard many horror stories of injuries to good players. The speed of the game is slower due to lower quality, but the bodies are for sure bigger.

I will have my son play if he makes the team, they are still young. Playing with friends they grew up with is part of being a kid. I think for high school, depending where he goes is a different story.

Letting my son try out and go to the meetings, but I let him know he most likely will not be able to play both academy and middle school...not sure where it goes eventually but I'm going to let him figure it out.

You join for 1 year like all clubs. We have friends that currently play at different ages and friends that have played in the past on the girls side before it stopped as well. We have heard nothing but good things about everything they do. If getting cut from the top team in the state will ruin your kid long term, then high level competitive sports probably isn't the thing for them to begin with.. that is embarrassing. Lots of players will thrive in a competitive environment and that is who they want to be on their teams. some will not, and will drop down to a more appropriate level for them.

I also have news for you.. every high level team is recruiting day in and day out to find the best talent and trying to bring in new kids. Kids on every MLS next team from NJ will be replaced next year just like they will at Red Bull, NYCFC and Philadelphia Union. That includes the non MLS Academies of CSA Bergen, TSF, PDA, CSA Monmouth, Real Jersey and FC Delco, BW Gottschee, Met Oval and NYSC and FC Westchester. Every one of those coaches is currently talking to parents of kids no in their respective programs and recruiting for next year where kids will be cut. Results matter and its a business.. your kids are "disposable" at every level. Maybe only 2 kids get replaced, maybe its 8 or 9 new kids brought in. PDA, CSA Bergen, CSA Monmouth, Real, TSF each brought in tons of new players this season. Kids were replaced on those teams. are those kids that were replaced also "ruined" long term?
The difference is they will be able to play on a C Team or D Team at other academies, RB don't offer that it's A/B or cut

RB wants size, speed strength, unless the kid that was cut gets bigger, faster and stronger chances are very very low to come back. RB is a select team, they don't develop they recruit top kids and replace them with better kids that were developed elsewhere. Wait till the late fall when coaches start telling 2011 RB kid's parents that they should start looking at other clubs. This actually happens..

I have to hear about a story where a kid that got cut from the first team in red bulls and got bought up later down the road. On the other hand, I have heard multiple stories in clubs like PDA and CSA Bergen where kids get dropped and then get rostered on team A down the season or 2. And that could just simply be that Red Bulls attracts better talent or coaches want "newness"

But at the end of the day it is a business and results matter for the older ages and all teams and clubs will always keep the best kids on their roster.
Sam Williams comes to mind as someone dropped by Red Bulls at u13, spent a year at CSA, then back on Red Bulls and was on track for homegrown contract until he decided to go to college.

The number of kids cut by Red Bull and later rejoin the team is probably very similar to the number of kids cut by MLS next clubs and then rejoin that same team later down the road. it happens.

Nothing to do with asking for names, asking for quantity. So far I only know 1 kid that was cut at Pre-Academy and Made it back.
