Also, what is the purpose of Red Bulls playing in the NEAL league in the 2nd (White) Flight against different clubs “B” teams. Seems like a complete waste of time for a MLS club to play teams at that talent level with that much travel involved. For example playing such a weak team like FA Euro? What does that accomplish? FA Euro finished behind the BW Gottschee 2nd team in their EDP flight last year. Why are the Mighty Red Bull teams playing them.
Maybe around 1/3 cut. A good handful of those that didn't make it were 2012s and are still on Pre-Academy.

Most Clubs in the NEAL League at the U12 level are MLS Next Clubs with the exception of a few, e.g Ionbound. Those kids for the most part will move on to play MLS Next for their respective clubs if they are able to do so. Ionbound kids will play MLS2 ( NEAL ) . Red Bulls I suspect is doing what they always do, scouting talent. No better way to do so that compete against the kids. It’s easier than having their scout sneak around watching kids from afar. They will have their u12 pre academy teams compete in the NEAL League this year and will try to pick off the best kids to build their U13 squad for next year.

You all sound bitter. Either your kid never made the cut or got pushed into the background by kids who got cut from nyrb and went to other clubs..

And those kids that are cut from Red Bull will then take the spots of kids on MLS Next teams who will be cut. Those kids who are cut from MLS Next teams will then take the spots of Kids on ECNL teams. The kids who were cut from ECNL teams will then take the spots of kids on NEAL teams. The kids cut from the NEAL teams will take the spots of the kids who are on the ECNRL teams. It’s a cycle.

agreed, plus not all those kids cut will be better than the current kids playing on other MLSnext teams.

There is a cycle it’s just not in favor of the kids being cut from Redbulls to succeed long term. As a youth soccer player you are better off achieving top level ability later on in life around U15/U16…

how many pre Academy redbulls players that were cut by U11 ever made it back into the program??

a lot of slander here on the "right way." I'm also against joining red bulls in pre academy but every child is way different and excel in different scenarios. My son personally would not excel in being in the pre academy team for red bulls and then getting cut. He's just not cut for it. Other kids are different and feed off scenarios like that. Most important thing this age is that they are having fun and they are actually developing their personal game and IQ of soccer and that the child emotionally excels in the atmosphere they are playing in week in and week out.
a lot of parents think top level now means they have a better chance of making it long term but it's not the case. best of luck to all and it will be cool to see these players grow as there will always be familiar faces on the pitch since we all play each other.

and cheers to champions league this week. A lot of teams need to prove something this week!

Getting cut will ruin most of these kids long term. You are completely right, the Red Bulls machine will keep recruiting day in and day out to find the best talent. The kids are disposable to them not sure why so many parents buy into the hype. More damage is done than good when your kid gets cut after 6 months. By next spring tons of 2011s will be gone.

My son does not play for Red Bull but I have to respectfully disagree with all the craziness on here. No one gets cut after 6 months from Red Bull. They will run June 22 - May 23. You join for 1 year like all clubs. We have friends that currently play at different ages and friends that have played in the past on the girls side before it stopped as well. We have heard nothing but good things about everything they do. If getting cut from the top team in the state will ruin your kid long term, then high level competitive sports probably isn't the thing for them to begin with.. that is embarrassing. Lots of players will thrive in a competitive environment and that is who they want to be on their teams. some will not, and will drop down to a more appropriate level for them.

I also have news for you.. every high level team is recruiting day in and day out to find the best talent and trying to bring in new kids. Kids on every MLS next team from NJ will be replaced next year just like they will at Red Bull, NYCFC and Philadelphia Union. That includes the non MLS Academies of CSA Bergen, TSF, PDA, CSA Monmouth, Real Jersey and FC Delco, BW Gottschee, Met Oval and NYSC and FC Westchester. Every one of those coaches is currently talking to parents of kids no in their respective programs and recruiting for next year where kids will be cut. Results matter and its a business.. your kids are "disposable" at every level. Maybe only 2 kids get replaced, maybe its 8 or 9 new kids brought in. PDA, CSA Bergen, CSA Monmouth, Real, TSF each brought in tons of new players this season. Kids were replaced on those teams. are those kids that were replaced also "ruined" long term?

Agreed with all above except for the fact that if you are dropped in one of these other clubs/academies other than Red Bulls you actually have a chance to get back on MLS next or the first team. I have to hear about a story where a kid that got cut from the first team in red bulls and got bought up later down the road. On the other hand, I have heard multiple stories in clubs like PDA and CSA Bergen where kids get dropped and then get rostered on team A down the season or 2. And that could just simply be that Red Bulls attracts better talent or coaches want "newness"

But at the end of the day it is a business and results matter for the older ages and all teams and clubs will always keep the best kids on their roster.

What's everyone take on middle school soccer? Are you guys having your son play? I'm having my son play just so he can go against bigger bodies and speed of the game. ( that's if he makes it of course) and his friends from school will be playing
