Now that Youthsoccerrankings is unavailable, is it time for the JFF Committee to provide a new NJ 2011B top-50? Where you at?

    Comment

Great question - the JFF network thought that Youth Soccer Ranking and GotSoccer mix would take it from here, but that has not been the case. Also, it is more difficult now as The FA, CSA Bergen, Red Bulls, Liverpool NJ others switch and swap players between "teams" at this age group. The team at JFF is looking to have an emergency meeting this week. We may hear something from them by week's end.

Main reason I refused my son to play for PDA this season. Son went to try outs last year and got offer letter but I have seen PDA's 2011 coach before. There's two, the one I am referring to is one on the heftier side. Too much screaming and not enough teaching.

Interesting... when you got an offer did they tell you what team he would be on ? Aor B?

No, the offer letter did not mention if it was Team A or B. I just to confirm my roster position 48 hours after I received it. Very bais but I do think he would have been on Team A but regardless it wasn't worth it to me. I think at this age it isn't about win and losses and what place your team is in. Of course no one likes losing but as long as the kid loves playing and he's actually learning the game and understanding how it's played. The kids that actually know how to play the game at this age will be the ones that play in the MLS next league. A lot of parents think it's about winning, there's a lot of kids that are on these teams that play to just win that don't really understand the game and how to move off the ball. Just like every sport it's a science and a coach that cares and teaches the game right is the most important at this age and below. Once they are at MLS next, they need to know how to play the game and it's about winning. Not that it matters but I decided to stay at my local team for one more year because of a fan of the coach just not a fan of the talent they are playing against, it's a tough balance so I see both ways.

Agreed, it should be all teaching and development at this age.

PDA is a great club and the coaches teach the game!

I think that this is the best that Bloomfield can play. I don't think they can play their academy. Plus the truth is Red Bull do get to pick from a much bigger pool of players and they have talent that seeks them out. Kudos to Bloomfiekd for taking them on and winning by a pretty good margin.

There may be a few kids out of Bloomfield - but they started intown - only one "mercenary" as far as I know.
Agreed. This is all true. That's what makes their accomplishment that much better. This is a team that took players out of rec...developed them...brought them to the highest level...and they are doing so well. Hats off.

I’m with you. I spoke to the coach and he seemed nice. We went for a session with their main team and they seemed like a nice group as well . We just have to find out how long the commute is with traffic. Also, their A team played better than I what I had expected. My kid comes from a team that is doing well in central top division. One thing to consider as well is what some one here mentioned before, If your kid is good enough he will get enough Playing time :)

Hi - hoping people can clarify. Going through different tryouts for my son. Does anyone know if PDA has set its roster/offers for its 3 teams (pre mls/pre ecnl/3rd team). Meaning is the pre mls set and now they’re looking for the 2nd/3rd team only? Also if match fit Mercer or PSA has also sets its team yet for next season? Appreciate any insights. Thank you in advance.

Isn't Bloomfield already in the top Central Division?

All players, regardless of team name, started in rec thats how they are introduced to the game. Hats off to all coaches whose primary purpose is development. No one will remember where they played or what level flight 1 etc, they will remember the coach who taught them how to play.
