STA is one of the original clubs in NJ. How can you compare the 2? It’s not fair to either club. STA is always in soccerwire top 100 and sends players to top HS programs and colleges every year. AS sends kids to Teaneck junior high.

Let the story of AS play out before you announce them as the next great club. Most likely they look to be in the same path as FA…a great building block program that has a major roadblock at U12 and players will disperse. I can almost guarantee that some of those players will end up at STA and go on to play at some very good HS etc. there is nothing wrong with that either.
The 2011 STA coach is absolutely clueless about developing players. STA itself might be a great program once the kids get older but I wouldn't let my kid play for that coach even if it was free with guaranteed starts for every game.

there program and development system is designed to pass kids off to Academies at the U13 age group.
there is no road block it’s called the pathway!
What a misleading post. You basically said AS is a dead end club at U13 and are somehow insinuating that the players move onto an academy. Almost guaranteed. Maybe 1 or 2 per year would be very good. I doubt RB or NYCFC are going to bet all their chips on AS.

what about the rest of the players who don’t make the “Academies”? Where do they go?

A nice little program up to U12. Just like FA. But as a anyone who reads this forum would guess some parent has to blow it up like their son’s team is the next Barcelona and actually detract from a good thing.

Prove it wrong then - plenty of examples of kids in club soccer 5-10 years eventually sharing the same high school and college pitches with kids that did 1/2 the travel and 1/2 the games.

why does AS Junior have such a great/high percentage of players moving on to MLS Academies??
they must be doing something right over there with the training!!!
I do not think there is a concern over wins and losses. The concern is that the 2011 team was once a good team that could compete - both wins and losses - but now they cannot compete. Something has gone wrong there.

            Not true.

Spoken like a true AS Junior parent...how do I know...because they are the only ones that would say that.

If AS Junior is so amazing at moving the ball and plays the right way like we always here… Other teams rely on long balls.. why are AS Junior so bad at Futsal as well? They just recently competed in 2 weeks of games at the Football Academy Futsal Cup. Both weeks they had teams go 0W - 3L and 1W - 2L. They combined for 10 losses and 2 wins. There is no long ball in Futsal and this is a game that plays to their so called strengths, yet the still fell way short.
So they only lose every game at 9v9 because other teams don’t play right and just play defense and long ball. Why do they also lose every game of Futsal where the game is more skill based and movement based with rules that eliminate the long ball. Maybe the other teams also have more skill and move better.

Still going only by scores. It’s not only about wining or losing at this age.

But at some point don't the moving the ball around and scoring goals reflect upon each other? If you are doing things correctly you will score goals and essentially win games or at least be competitive in games. Not scoring any goals and losing games by or near double digits week in and week out is supposed to make me feel like they are doing things the right way and everyone else isnt? I have seen them play and they hardly posses the ball, punt nearly everything out of the back outdoors and go big on goal kicks as well. At some point you have to call it like it is and quit lying to yourself.

So to sum up where we are at on the AS topic.

AS only plays “real soccer”. They have been on a pretty big skid in 9v9 outdoor, turf and futsal.

they send all their kids to MLS academies by U12. So I guess the program doesn’t want to make any money, so they stop at U12 because all the kids are moving to MLS.

They shouldn’t be moved down a flight because of the dreadful scores and the fact that they forfeit games

They are a better club than STA and FA despite not having older teams.

                        Anything else?

You have a point but clearly you are mistaken. They lost to FA by 1 goal both times they fixtured. I didn’t see double digits blowouts. Maybe on a big field that might happen. AS JR typically has small boys (body) give them time.

No one compared them to STA or FA. They are their own club. They are not only focused on in the moment wins. They are developing players. You continue to circle back to scores and their record. Scores don’t mean nada at this age!!

the Double digit / near double digit losses I was referring to outdoors. 12-0 loss to Red Bull North and 8-1 loss to CSA Bergen. In Futsal the FA Futsal team that played had 5-1, 6-0 and 6-5 wins over AS Junior teams. (not 1 goal both times, but 1 time of 3.)

So I guess the MLS academies taking these players don’t care about goal scorers?
