Is the purpose of speed of play to deliver balls to the attackers and create clear chances as quickly as possible or to just move the ball out of the back and to the sides without getting into the final third as quickly as possible.

I agree about the team concept, it's what make AS Jr effective. But I also think a lot of top level teams have mixed their roster a lot more over the years. Wouldn't that create a more well rounded player that isn't just a cog in a system? Learning to play with various styles has to be have a good effect, is it better than playing in a system for 5 years? I really don't know...

To say that Union will be a beast b/c the kids will grow is silly, everyone else will grow too. Big Strong and Fast will most likely (not in all cases) be bigger stronger faster in a few years. But what might remain is a team that played together for a really long time (High School since EDP will fade at higher age groups) that plays very good soccer. Say what you want, Union plays from the back and moves the ball very well. Haters will always hate on success, it's just human nature. I can't have an opinion on sportsmanship, but from the play I saw there is nothing out of line whatsoever.

Very good! Clearly all the kids are going to grow. Both Union and AS JR are known for good ball movement. Other teams are using bigger and stronger kids currently. As the kids continue to grow the gap in speed and physically will tighten up- but won’t be as much as it is today. But that point kids that didn’t learn skill and technique will be too late for them to pick that up.

i wouldn't say that, they are a good team, but they are not as dominate as they were 7v7. that team dominated all of NJ played them a few times with different teams and they always looked like they were going to win the game no matter what. from this game vs. Union i would agree they did not look overly dominate. Union had a couple blunders to lose that game, they did posses a little better than FA, i did enjoy watching them play and the game overall was entertaining.

This is the problem in NJ when you have over 350+ teams all under U11, talent is just too widespread and as the field gets bigger its more difficult for the few good players on the team to carry the rest of the team. coming from south america there are a few club teams in each region, if your good you'll play there with other good players if your not you play pickup soccer until you are. there isn't this money grab to get kids just for there past time.

Better than average now on their way to average. They have 3 very good players who can play anywhere and the rest are solid players who play their role very well. Add a very good coach and you have a very good team. As stated obviously adding more players on the field exposes weaknesses.

Unfortunately they admitted they are “sellers” and not “buyers” without higher level league.

That's fine not every academy is an MLS franchise. they know there niche and do it amazingly well. if you have a kid under 10 and want quality development on a high level team, FA is a destination. Not everyone has to be more than that.
We all know Redbulls is not developing any talent, they will take the best talent already developed and whoever survives they keep nothing wrong with that either. there is a time and place for all

                          FA 3 - RBNY 1
FA is still a good side. FA notably kick the ball long more often than they used to, about 90% of goal kicks go long. But it worked against Red Bulls. One FA goal from a rebound, and another from a penalty.

The Red Bulls style might not be conducive to winning at this age, though winning is not their goal. Hyper aggressive pressing led to a lot of fouls. FA received a majority of the calls (either RB foul really hard or FA falls down a lot, but first time out of all the previous meetings that the disparity has been so large). RB did not get many calls, but that is the norm. The two penalties won by FA were deserved.

Red Bulls will carry on with their close possession play that relies on skill, dribbling, and tight passing. FA had a few sequences of connecting play, but RB definitely try to play through more. Was happy with the game because of the player development. Winning is nice, but is far down the list of priorities.

Last recap from this observer because of said priorities.

You were watching a different game, FA missed 2 penalties missed open chances. Most if not all the players will not be at Red Bull’s in 2 years time. Simply still not good enough !

pretty sure those two penalties were mentioned. Think Red Bulls are sticking to what they do without regard to the game results. FA controlled game for middle twenty minutes, but you have to admit it was a contrast of styles, with RB emphasizing control and link up play. RB lost, it happens.

One of the goals came from a rebound on the penalty save.
