Yes you are correct Holmdel did struggle against Red Bulls at edp summer classic. That was Holmdel first ever tournament and it was 7v7. That was the only tournament they played that was 7v7. This past weekend at Edp tournament playing 9v9 they beat Red Bulls team 2-0. Yes I know this was the white team but it had alot of the same boys that they played at edp summer classic.

7v7/9v9
I think we will see a lot of teams that are used to playing 9v9 come out hot, while the teams that are just switching now will struggle. So union, csa, FA and RB have a distinct advantage from multiple perspectives.
It does seem to me that the 'Academy' teams seem to interchange players more; whereas town teams stick to one team year over year. I think this results in more wins for the long term teammates but better cross training for those that play with different boys. It's a fairly pronounced difference between the two from what I have seen.

Agreed!! FA,RB,Union and CSA Bergen only. CSA Monmouth their best players already left. A lot of players are jumping around. Teams will continue to add/lose players. Some for the right reasons and some because of the parents!! For some parents this is just about showing off or they just love to create Drama.

Does EDP go flight based on geographic, last year's performance or coaches requests?
There are top to bottom flight projections & what ifs earlier in this thread 5-6 pages back.

They are losing to mediocre town clubs over the summer. Not good at all. Good start on the picks for the flights. My guess would be a bit different….

The Puyol team played up, but in the bottom flight (4th of 4) at 2010 age group. In that flight they lost to the 2011 Ocean team and an average Jackson town team twice. That is why I assumed they lost players due to those poor results.

They have been mixing it up to give the 11s exposure to 9v9 before the season starts. Bloomfield definitely lost players and Inmean a lot from what I heard and RCD.
