post #944 on this thread mentioned futsal

exactly. the point was also futsal you have to use skill and technical ability to get out of small spaces, this tiny field is the same situation where its dependent on first touch and technical ability. (which im not saying is needed it is but not to the same extent) whereas in a real field and outdoor soccer, you can use your speed and physcial ability along with technical to get out of danger, this tiny field takes most of the other elements out of it. that was the point. which is great and all kids should play futsal for the technical ability.. but that is not all soccer is its a combo of everything plus IQ. of course the other team had an advantage over Liverpool as they probablly practice on this dangerously little field all the time.

Correct so teams like Union who think they are amazing because they can hold 90% possesion will never compete with FA, RB, or CSA. they are just too small

Luckily this game was not a very physical game like I have seen many of at this age. Those fence posts could cause some serious damage.

Thought the match was very even with a little bit better possession for AS Junior which should be expected on their home mini-field. If a penalty is awarded on this field, where is it taken from as the goal box only appears 7-8 yards deep and at this age it is supposed to be taken from 10 yards out. I thought the shot from the kickoff was going to be cringe-worthy from reading about it but don't see it as so bad after watching considering midfield was only about 25 yards and lots of teams at this age attempt shots on free-kicks from distance.
I have been saying that any shot from the field is a free kick but y’all stubborn! AJ elite is a good team and so are all the other teams in the North Division. Although Morris Elite needs to step down :)

The jury is still out on FA. Yes they have some promising young teams especially at this age group and they pulled in a lot of kids but after next season what are they going to offer? Unless they get an ECNL bid these kids are going to leave 1 by 1 just like other teams. Playing in EDP and going to some nice tournaments is not enough. It is basically the equivalent of average H.S. Soccer. These kids are too good to all stay.

Which is also why the jury is still out on Morris Elite and Copa and what affect a USL2 academy will have in the system. It is supposed to be a step up from ECNL but step down from MLS next. CSA is the only club in both leagues.

I watched the Liverpool game vs AS it was embarrassing for the Liverpool coach. Three attempts to score from the kick off really ???🤣🤣 all their goals were goalie/defense errors. Not a single goal created by any ball movement or at least more than one pass. These poor clueless parents drinking the fake International Professional Soccer academy Kool Aid and paying 3k so their kids learn how to punt the ball any chance they get lolol

                  From a neutral perspective

AS Junior also only created 1 goal from the run of play. It isn’t like they were passing g around setting up goals. Their first goal was off a corner with a set play pass through a kids legs and shot right away. That isn’t working on a regular size field where you would be 10 yards further away. 2nd goal was a defensive giveaway that was scored from 6 yards out. Their 3rd goal was also a defensive giveaway again and the AS Junior player took 1 dribble and scored. Their 4th goal was a couple nice passes to set it up.

I agree The kickoff shots were embarrassing. Cheap. The AS Junior goalie kept them in the game. He was the brightest part of the game. He made 3 good saves in the first 5 minutes alone, and by 17 minutes in they had 5-6 quality saves. The AS Junior team had very good ball movement and possession style play. On a Regulation size field I don’t know if the game is this close though. I think faster and stronger teams on an appropriate sized field will give this team lots of problems. On a real field I guess Liverpool wins this game by several goals.

The footskills are great but apply it on a real field where you need to be able to run and cover ground as well. That field is doing AS Junior a huge disservice as it clearly will not have them prepared for a 9v9 size field come August.

One of your favorite FA parents here...
I want to start off by saying enough of mentioning 2012 players playing up as an excuse or sympathy. If your coach thinks they are good enough to play up than dont use the age as a sob story or justification. Plus some of the NYRB players are 2012...

We recently played AS Juniors on our home field and was immediately blown away by there entire team play. Not only did they distribute the ball efficiently they showed tremendous speed and physicality against our bigger boys. 15 minutes into the first half the game was still 0-0 and they had total control. This was the first time this season I thought we could lose a game. All the FA parents including myself was at a loss for words and was very impressed with the way they played the first half. The score ended 4-2 at half and two of our goals were from corner kicks which they couldn’t defend against our big boys!

The second half a different team showed up and we destroyed them. I lost count LOL 😝 But... They had only 1 sub for the entire game which I’m not using as an excuse I’m actually getting to my point. I think AS Juniors could be a force to be wreck-end with if they had a deeper bench. They showed great speed, great physicality and amazing soccer skills. So I truly believe they will be competitive playing 9v9 on a field larger then there small home field if they can increase there bench and depth of players.

And to the person that thinks CSA should be ranked above us has yet to validate that on paper 📝 plus several of there A team players have been dropped to there B team 😂

Field size means nothing if the team can't move the ball, if all they do is kick the ball in to space to leverage athleticism to score a smarter team will cut them off. In a bigger field the posession and patience will outsmart a high pressing team that hasn't been taught how to attack and defend intelligently. Look at Union and how they dominate most team's 2010 B teams. The teams are clueless on how to defend them and their attacks are highly predictable. Union has two or three fast players the rest are smaller less athletic players that have learned how to play their position and how to outsmart their bigger more athletic oponnents. Union beat the STA B 2010, Cedar Stars Bergen B 2010, Cedar Stars Staten Island B 2010 team, and PDA B 2010 team. It is no coincidence that they do this so efficiently.

Bergen A players were moved down to the B team because they couldn't deliver and need more development. Several players from the B team are now in the A team because they earned their spot and demonstrated that they are ready. Nothing wrong with CSA helping the players develop and get more playing time at the right level.

At the end of the day the FA cycle will come to an end by the time the top boys get to 13. No parent will be silly enough to keep their kids away from competing in the MLS Next. FA will continue the legacy and will.keep developing younger boys until that age. In Europe town academies develop boys that go on travel with pro team youth academies and end up loosing them but that means they know how to develop players.

This is the 1st year for MLSnext. Who’s to say that FA and other clubs won’t apply or try to get included? If FA and or other Top youth clubs had an interest on going in that direction I am sure they can partner with a larger organization and play under them in MLSnext.

Some clubs like FA, World Class, Liverpool, ASJE, and Union take pride in developing kids like they do in Europe and when it’s time hand them over to an academy that will fit the players individual style of play.

CSA is not the end all and be all club to go to. Matter a fact the rumor is TSF will have all Bergen’s best players come MLSnext time!

It is highly unlikely that FA will jump right to a MLS Next club especially with some deficient teams at the older ages. MLS next wants strong teams at every age level and before you say they can work in that you have to get past the fact that they already stated that they reached a limit in this area between the 3 MLS teams and the other big academies, and if or when they add another STA would have a much better shot. They are already in the top 100 along with 4 other NJ academies already in MLS next.

That being said FA does a great job but they are going to have to pull a rabbit out of their hat. Even the USL academies only allow 1 team per county and Morris county already has 2 (Morris Elite, is out of Essex...go figure). I think a nice ECNL bid is in their future and there is nothing wrong with that.

Settle down and get your facts straight. They beat the STA C team (USYS) and the PDA B team lost half their players this winter. They are a good 2011 team, but you need a reality check

From NJ the MLS Next league has CSA Bergen, CSA Monmouth, NY Red Bull, PDA, Real Jersey and TSF. So CSA Bergen, TSF and PDA all already cover North Jersey, CSA Monmouth covers Central NJ and Real covers south Jersey along with Red Bull covering the entire state. They will not add another NJ club to their slate of teams. You also have Philly Union as an option for south/central NJ Players and NYCFC for north Jersey players. 8 clubs are options for NJ players already. They won’t dilute the market more.
