This is the dumbest thread I've seen here.

On the younger side ask your club to let your kid train with the younger team 06->07 I'm sure they'll say yes they just can't play games not a big deal. On the older side if you are 18 and mommy still arranging play dates for you, you got a bigger problem than soccer.
How does this help the trapped HS juniors who need to attend the showcases that their HS senior teammates don't want to go to? Or the lack of U18 brackets at some of the bigger showcases where those HS juniors don't have an opportunity to get seen by college coaches?

Your suggestion for what the trapped 8th graders should do is adequate and probably what most of those 8th graders end up doing. The point being made is that doing that would be completely unnecessary if they switched back to 8/1 carding.

Exactly. Showcasing is an issue for these late bday kids, as well as those who still wants to play their senior year. Many teams are done because the bulk of the players graduated. Not all leagues allow older 8th graders to play down, sow while you can find a team to practice on you may not be playing games all fall.

The net/net is the move negatively impacts so many kids and very if any benefit from it in a meaningful way

You just nailed what a kid with further aspiration should be doing while arguing against....."How does this help the trapped HS juniors who need to attend the showcases that their HS senior teammates don't want to go to?" - GO TO A NEW TEAM/CLUB THAT WILL!!!

The ONLY argument you people have is your kid playing with their current team. They don't want to move teams, they don't want to leave friends...yap..yap..yap..

If your kid can't handle moving teams as a junior to benefit their chances of a scholarship then they won't cut it in college between the schedule, lack of playing time and not having people they grew up with on the team.

Finding that team is not easy. And if you do happen to find one, hopefully it is within a reasonable driving distance. And hopefully it is a team that is at the appropriate talent level for you, and plays in a league that is on-par with you. Even if you could find a new team that had enough trapped juniors who want to go to showcases, how do you play at showcases that don't have a U18 bracket?

Has nothing to do with leaving friends, and everything to do with the USSF having a system that makes things unnecessarily difficult for 1/3 of youth players.

If your kid can't handle moving teams as a junior to benefit their chances of a scholarship then they won't cut it in college between the schedule, lack of playing time and not having people they grew up with on the team.
It's not a question of "handling it". It's a question of the current system being completely unnecessary and making things unnecessarily complicated for 1/3 of the youth players in the country.

So according to you kids should just keep switching teams because of the calendar change? I guess this doesn’t affect your kid so everyone else should just team Jump? Good to know

We have a friend who has 3 kids at the same club. The oldest kid is a trapped player. Because both parents work, it would be nearly impossible logistically because of the difficulty it would introduce if they had to take the kids to different locations for practices.

But you added to the dumbest thread because you think its a good alternative to have kids just practice soccer and not play actual games.

What kids do you know that just wants to train all the time without any game competition?

Does your kid even play soccer or just practice?.....

                  What a dumb arse comment

Do you really think moving is so easy? Sorry but it isn't, and I don't mean emotionally. There just aren't many spots out there, and many clubs would rather stick with a player and family they know then take a risk on new ones so late in the game.

As for "find a team that will go to showcases?" By junior year and definitely senior year they won't want to go because they don't NEED to go. They're done with their recruiting because they're lucky enough to have been born in the "right" months that align with the school year and recruiting classes. If a team is still going to a showcase senior year that means they're pretty low level and also pretty late in the game. Not much meat left on the bone to pick off by then

ECNL should go grad year like Lax does. Solve everything.

ALL of soccer should move back to school year, not just HS+. I think baseball tried this once and quickly moved back, or maybe it was LAX. If MLS wants to keep it calendar year fine, but the rest of youth soccer should move back to include as many kids as possible

Yeah but have you seen how well the men’s national team has done at the world stage? 😂

To be fair, we are really just talking about 3 months, so if the goal is for these trapped players to keep their skills and fitness up, having them train with the 1-year-younger team in those months is an adequate solution. It is, however, a solution to a COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY PROBLEM that would be better-solved by going back to 8/1 carding.

Has Edp actually considered a solution to the trapped player issue?

DM cheated at the Sportika tournament on 2/6. He entered his 2007 team in the 2007/2008 flight. He then loaded his 07 team with a bunch of 06 girls and and a 05 National team player to cheat his way 1st place against 07 and 08 teams in the Sportika tournament on Saturday.

All the 2008 and 2007 girls team coaches that were in that tournament were sent an email with the picture DM posted of all his team with the 2006 players and 2005 National team player posing with the first place medals and trophies. There is no doubt that PSA will be hearing from these coaches wanting answers about DMs cheating and other unsportsmanlike behavior that he exhibited with his 2009 team at the tournament this weekend.

Is this cheating and unsportsmanlike behavior a representation of the values of PSA or is it just the representation of a rogue PSA DOC? Is DM's behavior the message PSA wants to send to the public during the week of their big NJX merger and PSA Monmouth media blitz?
