Just curious how old is your player? Or are you a coach?

Even going to England, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland...can be a lot of fun. There is a lot to see there. But travel for fun does not need to be dictated by soccer.

It's truly heartwarming to read all the concerns over our family and how we manage our activities. I really mean that.

We need more of this...looking out for each other and showing real concern for our fellow man.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Agree. We need to help families not get swindled by these clubs that try to make money that they provide an elite platform and you have to drive 6+ hours for kinderkick soccer. Parents really have no clue. The only way to help is by parents who experience the nonsense to pass along to the new cycle.

            Absolutely, and so heartwarming.

I'm really glad our GAL club doesn't travel 6+ hours for games. That would be a lot for anyone.

On the same note, I am looking to buy out my lease on my Mazda. Can you help with that, too? Also, I was going to purchase some Kentucky flagstone to build a walk-way. Should I get the tumbled, or sharp-edged?

Looks like the entire NYSC 2005 team has gone to CFC. This GAL thing is looking better every day.

Absolutely amazing how a team in the supposed top league can be up and shipped out at the drop of a hat when a team of clowns shows up....

Sorry I keep forgetting the characters that read these posts. Travel and soccer are perfect together. Has given me time with my daughter that is priceless. Sorry you don’t get to appreciate those moments. So far the trips have been great won or lose. Looking at the big picture when she is off to play in college next year I will miss those times.

Definitely not a coach Daughter going into her Senior year. I have friends who travel to play chess tournaments, hockey tournaments, dancing tournaments,,cheerleader tournaments. Different strokes but all the same thing of making it an adventure. It’s about your kid and not you.

                      Ski trips, beach vacations...

I'd rather spend 4 days at a showcase then 4 days on the beach.

Feel the same. It’s been outstanding. I just didn’t have to have the 6HR rides in traffic.

We All can live without traffic but on the way home most of the time she slept which gave me peace and quiet, time for myself and listening to my music on the way home. All good.

A friend was telling me how emotional he was at the end of his daughter's very last senior year college game. He said he had been taking her/going to games since she was 8.

I went to my niece's last college hockey game. She played hockey since she was 4, and soccer and lacrosse since she was 6. Played 3 sports through HS, then just hockey in college. My brother coached her for much of that time.

My brother was very emotional. He tried to hide it, but he had been coaching or attending youth sports for two decades (adding in my other niece). Yes, he has other hobbies and all, but there is an incredible void. He's asked for my daughter's schedule so he can get his jones that way.

I'm ruing the day it comes. Could be after HS, will likely be after college, but it's coming. I'm 8 years into this and on the downslope of her time. It's why I don't care about the travel and commitment or anything else. She's my only child, and I cherish that time with her. We go to most of the tourneys and showcases and games, etc. We enjoy seeing other parts of the country, going to dinner, and the hotels...anything to change the daily routine is welcomed.

Yeah...at times the traffic drags me down a little but I'm comforted I know what she's doing, who she's doing it with, she's not in trouble, and is happy. If the result is she's not in what some vehemently advocate isn't the best league this side of the galaxy, oh well. Those who spend their days worrying and commenting on the leagues and bringing so much negativity need some couch time with a psychologist to understand where their anger is coming from.

It’s an absolute clown show this GAL league, some clubs can’t even field teams at certain age groups and good players are leaving en masse to ECNL and even USYS teams. If you’re a good player consider your options carefully.
